Part of the new hotel complex on Sentosa (The Village Hotel, The Barracks, and The Outpost Hotel), Mess Hall @ Sentosa houses a varied collection of culinary options – including Bedrock Origin Steak & Grilled Seafood Restaurant, Le Faubourg French Restaurant, Quentin’s Eurasian Restaurant and Royal Taj Indian Restaurant.

Thai Meal at the Mess Hall

We had a simple delightful Thai meal by Chef Nicke Wong at The Straits Wine Company at Mess Hall recently.

We chose the Fried Chicken Rib Wings ($16), Stir Fried Cabbage with Fish Sauce ($12) and Pineapple Fried Rice ($22).

The Fried Chicken Rib Wings looked fairly ordinary but had brilliant flavours and texture. It was well marinated and fried to perfection. A thin crispy layer gave way to the moist delectable meat inside. It was finger-licking good.

The Stir Fried Cabbage with Fish Sauce was surprisingly delicious. The simple cabbage with just a few ingredients and fish sauce had layers of subtle flavours. It was one of those dishes that would usually be cooked at home and largely taken for granted. However, enjoying the taste and smell of each mouthful was a delightful culinary experience.

Chef Nicke Wong’s Pineapple Fried Rice was the best dish of the meal. Served in a pineapple bowl, the fried rice was nicely cooked with soft but not mushy grains. The dish was bursting with flavours of spices, fresh pineapple cubes and crunchy cashew nuts. It had a good balance of sweet and savoury and had the familiar Thai taste.

Delightful Wine & Dine Venue

The Straits Wine Company at Mess Hall Sentosa is a great destination for a reasonably priced Thai meal because of Chef Nicke Wong’s delicious Thai dishes. With friendly and attentive service, a great selection of wines and a relaxed scenic setting, the restaurant at Mess Hall Sentosa is a delightful wine and dine venue.
