Crafted By Peter Zwiener at South Beach is a sister outlet to Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Singapore. Casual and more affordable, it is renowned for its dry-aged, 100% Prime Beef Burgers and Specially Crafted Milkshakes.
Crafted By Peter Zwiener is one of the many dining options at the South Beach mixed development that stands on the old site of the NCO Club (remember the duty free beer?) and Beach Road Camp along Beach Road Singapore. You can check out other f&b options at our post What to eat at South Beach 2023.
The description on its website is as follows : “Inspired by New York City, Crafted by Peter Zwiener is a Casual Upscale Concept that features classic, refined wood grains, and sophisticated palettes of turquoise, red, and neon lights….” . This newish restaurant (opened in 2022) has an attractive decor. To us, it has a hybrid look – the dark serious atmosphere of a steakhouse and the light, casual furniture of an American diner. Which is consistent with what is on the menu.
Crafted By Peter Zwiener Menu
The menu at Crafted By Peter Zwiener is a straightforward one. The main menu contains classic dishes such as salads and buffalo wings for starters and baked seabass and steaks for main courses. The burger menu stands on its own. There is also a brunch menu for weekends and public holidays. A lunch menu with four types of pasta was also offered to us. Here are pictures of some portions of the menu. The full menu is available online (link at the end of this post). Five types of milkshakes are available with cute names like Nutty Brat and Million Dollar Smile.
What We Ate For Lunch at South Beach
For our lunch at Crafted By Peter Zwiener, we tried two types of burgers and a Corn Fed Chicken Leg. The first burger was the signature burger – The Crafted Classic ($18++). The patty was made with 100% USDA Black Angus beef. Lettuce, tomato, fried onion and cheddar completed the burger. This is really a classic burger. It had everything we wanted in a burger with a small bunch of salad at the side. The beef was chewy and flavourful. It was a satisfying burger.
Bull’s Eye burger at Crafted by Peter Zwiener
Next we tried the Bull’s Eye burger ($22++). It did not look different from the Classic. A quick check at the menu description revealed that the ingredients were very much the same, except that the Bull’s Eye had another item – creamy pepper sauce. We could hardly taste the difference. Next time we should stick to the classic and save four bucks.
Best Dish of The Day
The chicken leg was selected so that we had diversity for lunch. It turned out to be a wise move. Described in the menu as a 220g sous vide whole chicken leg, this was a very tender and delicious piece of chicken. The magic probably lies with the rosemary herbs that were used during the baking or grilling of the chicken. The intense smokey flavour was enjoyed by the nose and the palette.
The burgers did not come with fries. The side order of fries ($12) were chunky and fried just enough to leave a light crisp surface.
Overall, our lunch South Beach was an enjoyable event. Simple western food in a pleasant ambience. Our server was a pleasant and pro-active lady which elevated the level of service a notch above the average restaurant.
