We had lunch at COMO Cuisine Orchard Cafe in the new COMO Metropolitan Singapore at Orchard Road. This is the new hotel opposite Paragon Orchard. It is a new building, standing where the old Thong Sia building used to be. Recently, COMO Cuisine’s sibling Cédric Grolet Singapore stole the limelight with long queues and full reservations for the patisserie cafe with the famous French pastries.
COMO Orchard Singapore
COMO Cuisine Orchard Cafe is located on level 2 of COMO Orchard Singapore which is described as “… an integrated and immersive experience spread over 19 floors, bringing the best of COMO Group’s hospitality, fashion, wellness and cuisine in one prime destination…”. This is a one-stop place to have access to COMO dining concepts, fashion collections from multi-label Club 21, and wellness services.
Club 21 at Orchard Road
The fashion sections are located on both levels 1 and 2 of COMO Orchard. At level 2, the store is directly connected to the COMO Cuisine Orchard Cafe. The trendy store has similar features as COMO’s Dover Street outlet at Dempsey – industrial, yet stylish, but we think COMO Orchard is nicer because of the big bright windows.
COMO Cuisine Orchard Cafe Review
As we entered the cafe, the two things we immediately noticed were the spaciousness of the place and the edginess of design. Space is a premium on Orchard Road. The amount of space between tables at COMO Cuisine Orchard is a refreshing change.
Industrial details such as raw concrete finishes and exposed pipes and a/c ducting are balanced by the playful furniture and occasional bursts of bright colours.
The most beautiful part is the bar area which radiates light and colour to the rest of the space.

Our Lunch – Chicken Dishes
Bread and olive oil were served once our ordering was completed. Both were simple and nice.
The Thai Chicken dish ($34) made us recall our visit to Nahm restaurant in COMO Metropolitan Hotel Bangkok. Just as in Singapore we only went to the COMO hotel to eat, not stay.
With the salad, chicken and sticky rice served in small portions, this ensured that we did not over-eat. The chicken was seasoned nicely with a blend of herbal flavours and expertly grilled. This was the best piece of chicken we have eaten recently.
Our other chicken dish was soto ayam. Priced at $24, this was expensive for a dish we usually associate with simple dining at hawker centres. Our high expectations were met. The rich, complex chicken broth was the highlight.
Lunch at COMO Cuisine Orchard Singapore – Fish Dishes
What we have said about the chicken dishes apply to the fish dishes. Good ingredients coupled with expertly tuned flavouring in the form of sauces, spices etc combine to make great dishes. The Snapper Curry ($34) had nice big pieces of fish smothered in a wonderfully spicy curry which was only mildly hot but full of flavours.
The more healthy option from the COMO Shambhala Cuisine Menu was grilled wild Scottish salmon ($42). Served with chopped cauliflower, eggplant puree, pomegranate tabbouleh and quinoa, this was a tasty and substantial dish which will also satisfy our Omega-3 needs for the week.
Overall, an enjoyable lunch at COMO Cuisine Orchard, which served up an experience similar to a visit to COMO Cuisine Dempsey some time ago – familiar dishes but prepared with more flavours.
