The new Moxie restaurant is an interesting dining concept that has sprouted at the Medical Alumni Clubhouse near SGH, Outram Road. A sister restaurant of upmarket restaurant Siri House at Dempsey, they share the same DNA and have attractive decors and interesting menus.

The New Restaurant At Medical Alumni Clubhouse Singapore
On their website, Moxie restaurant is described as “(a) modern Mediterranean dining destination reminiscent of coastal culinary journeys..”. It is located on the ground floor of the Medical Alumni Clubhouse, a small old house near the slip road that you will travel on when heading to CTE (towards AYE) from Outram Road. Good news for drivers – free parking when dining at the restaurant, a rare commodity these days.

Moxie’s decor is attractive in a tasteful, understated way, unlike the bright, glam theme of its elder sibling, Siri House. There is a calm ambience at the restaurant, which used to house the Ka Soh restaurant. The transformation is outstanding.

Moxie Restaurant Menu
We were at the restaurant for brunch and here are pictures of the Moxie Weekend Brunch menu. Our food selection of the day were Moxie Dip Platter with 2 Dips ($16), Savoury Custard Tart ($8 each), Rigatoni Alla Vodka ($25), Black Garlic Linguine ($32) and Grilled Kurobuta Pork Collar sandwich ($19).

Starters and Sandwich Dishes

Brunch started on a positive note. Both the Dip Platter and the Tart (picture below) were good and enjoyable. In particular the pita bread served with the platter was very good. The amount of dip was generous enough to warrant an addition order of pita bread ($3). That alone would be a satisfactory breakfast for one person.

The pork collar sandwich was our least liked dish of the day. Thin slices of pork were fatty and lacking in taste. The laffe bread served with it was not like the nice pita bread that was served earlier.

Pasta Dishes at Moxie Restaurant

Being the vegetarian option, we expected the rigatoni to be a safe and plain dish. It surprised us with its sunny disposition. The sauce, made with roasted capsicum, was a burst of flavours. It had a tinge of spiciness to wake up the taste buds but mild enough to please our no-chilli companions. The pasta itself was cooked to a perfect level on al dente-ness, making it chewy and springy.

Our other pasta dish had better ingredients shrimp, mussels and scallops but the taste was not as outstanding. In fact the seafood flavour reminded us of Hokkien mee.

Dessert and Coffee

Our meal at Moxie ended with a simple Dark Chocolate Mousse ($16) and coffee ($7 for cappuccino). The mousse was ok but not memorable while the coffee was ordinary.
