Breakfast at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe

We went there for breakfast and ordered a simple Rugby Bun with Butter ($1.90), Two Pan fried Eggs & Luncheon Meat with Crispy Rugby Bun ($6.80) and a few dim sum items – Peanut Porridge ($3), Braised Beef Brisket Cheong Fun ($6.90) and Pan Fried Radish Cake ($4.90 for 3 pieces). Black coffee was $2.90 each.

The Rugby Bun with Butter ($1.90) was a fluffy delight, perfect for dunking into a cup of their strong Hong Kong-style coffee. For something more substantial, the Eggs & Luncheon Meat with Crispy Rugby Bun hit the spot for a simple tasty breakfast dish.

The dim sum items were fairly standard, not luxurious, but satisfying and filling. The Peanut Porridge was simple comfort food.

The Braised Beef Brisket Cheong Fun stood out. The cheong fun (rice noodle sheets) were smooth and delicate. The beef brisket was really tender and was delectable.

The pan-fried radish cake, also known as “lo bak go” in Cantonese, had a crispy, golden-brown crust. It was prepared with various ingredients, including dried shrimp and Chinese sausage (lap cheong). It was crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The taste was enhanced by adding the XO sauce provided.
