Astons Prime in Joo Chiat, part of the Astons group known for its well-priced steaks, offers a great value set lunch for just $16.90. With three courses included, it is a tempting option for those seeking a quick and tasty midday meal.
Astons Prime in the East
Astons opened its first outlet in East Coast Road in 2005. It soon captured the hearts and taste buds of many and became the go-to place when you wanted quality steaks at prices that won’t break the bank. Today, Aston has many outlets all over Singapore and even branched out into other brands such as Andes, Chic A Boo, Aji iChi, Bizen and East Treasure.
Many diners were dismayed when Astons East Coast Road closed its doors a few years ago. However, it soon re-appeared in nearby Joo Chiat Road as Astons Prime, with the added advantage of having a large public carpark just next to it.
With its Western steakhouse theme, Astons Prime in Joo Chiat exudes a casual yet elegant atmosphere. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a glass-fronted meat display showcasing their prime cuts, while the bar is situated towards the rear.
Booth seating offer comfortable options for dining parties of two to six.
Menu of Astons Prime
Steaks will of course be on the menu of Astons Prime. However, escargot, oysters, fish, chicken and burgers are also on the menu. There are also all day breakfast items and pastas. Below are pictures of a few pages of the menu of Astons Prime.
Astons Prime also offers affordable lunch sets. Guests can choose to start with either a soup or salad, followed by a main course, and finish their meal with a dessert or a beverage. It is also possible to create your own sets by choosing a main course and adding sides and other items. Below are pictures of the menu for lunch sets.
Set Lunch at Astons Prime
We opted for the 3 course lunch set ($16.90). Soup of the Day was mushroom soup. We chose Grilled Fish and Super Burger for our mains, and to end with coffee.
The mushroom soup had a rich, earthy flavour and the texture was nice and thick. It was what we would expect from a comforting bowl of soup at a casual restaurant.
The grilled fish arrived accompanied by our choice of two sides: pumpkin and mashed potato. The portion size was generous. The fish fillet, seasoned with a delightful mix of herbs, was delectable on its own. However, a squeeze of lemon or a touch of the provided brown sauce added another layer of flavour.
The burger named “I eat Super Burger” was a super big burger, with fries served on the side. In between a soft sesame seed bun were layers of delicious ingredients, including a thick chopped sirloin steak patty, crispy bacon, fried egg, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes and BBQ sauce. What made the burger looked really tall was the lightly battered, crispy fried onion rings.
The burger arrived looking impressive. Thankfully, the taste lived up to the visuals. Each bite was delightful. It was definitely a generous portion, good for those with a healthy appetite.
The coffee served with the set lunch at Astons Prime was machine-brewed Nescafe.
