Elemen Millenia Walk is a restaurant that serves Western and Asian-vegetarian dishes that appeal to those with concerns for the well being of the Earth and personal health. Attracted by a promise “…to bring you an abundance of natural recipes that will nourish as well as heal your body and mind,” we decided to go there for a $28.80++ five course set meal.
Vegetarian Restaurant at Millenia Walk
It has been a while since we last visited an Elemen restaurant. Some years back, we had visited its other outlets such as the one at VIVO City. The Elemen Millenia Walk restaurant has the smart casual decor that we had experienced before.
This outlet is quite large and there are spacious seating areas. The number of staff was small and we were impressed by their efficiency in being able to cover such a large space.
Elemen Five Course Set Meal
Another thing that appeared familiar was the set meals starting from $28.80++ per person for a 5 Course Set. Costing only a bit more, the 8 Course set ($33.80) was also enticing but we restrained ourselves and picked the 5-Course option. Other than the first course, there were various options for selection in each of the courses. An a la carte menu is also available.
Courses 1 & 2 : Appetiser, Salad and Soup
The first course is the same for everyone having a set course meal at Elemen Millenia Walk. Referred to as the “Elemen Appetiser” in the menu, this is a serving of three bite-sized items that bring to mind amuse bouche items at some restaurants. These were quite fun pieces, ranging from the sourish berry on the right to the gelatinous cube on the left which had a complex earthy taste.
For the second course, there was a choice of soup or salad. We chose one of each. For soup we picked the “Double-Boiled Cordyceps Flower with Peach Gum in Superior Soup 虫草花桃胶炖汤”. I cannot identify all the ingredients in the soup. Basically it tasted very healthy. Like a mild chicken herbal soup, except that this was made entirely of non-meat ingredients.
Our choice of salad was “Charcoal Churros Rojak”. This was a very interesting dish, combining black crunchy churros and a mix of fresh fruit and vegetables (I could make out pineapple and beetroot) together with a very authentic tasting rojak paste.
Course 3: Main Courses
Our selected main courses were Seaweed Tempura Tofu with Avocado Roll and Asia Curry with Crispy Roti.
The Japanese dish was the better choice . With one row of maki roll (avocado, cucumber, crispy enoki mushroom) and a parallel row of nori tofu tempura, this dish was elegantly presented and there was a burst of flavours with each bite.
Less distinctive was the prata and curry dish. Nothing wrong with it, in fact the vegetable curry and prata were enjoyable. But it was too authentic (if there is such a thing) and we were expecting an elemen’s twist of this local dish.
Courses 4 & 5 – Dessert and Drinks
For the fourth course, we chose double-boiled lemongrass with peach gum and cappuccino origin cake. The fifth course was a choice of drinks. We had the yuzu jasmine green tea and orange red date tea. These were quite predictable, rounding up our set course lunch at Elemen Millenia Walk.
