Following our generally positive experience with the Singapore Restaurant Week events in 2014, we decided to sign up for a few restaurants at this year’s restaurant week which lasts from 14 to 22 March 2015. The first restaurant that we tried was Ristorante Amarone which is located at the Capital Tower on Robinson Road.
Kampong Glam Cafe is not glamorous, notwithstanding the flashy cars we saw parked near it. Located in the middle of the historic enclave of Kampong Glam, it is more like a big sarabat stall where you can get a good kampong style meal and enjoy a teh tarik or a Milo Dinosaur at affordable prices. The socialites will likely give this place a miss because it is literally eating on the roadside but you will find that Kampong Glam Cafe is almost always crowded with unhurried ordinary people who seemed to be enjoying their food. This post about the Joie Restaurant is turning out to be one of the easiest to write but the hardest to complete. It is easy to write because there is so much to record about our lunch. The hard part is the selection of photos. As you will see in a moment, the food presentation here is really creative. Joie refers to its food as “Japanese-French Creative Modern Meatless Cuisine”, which may explain the attention to details in presentation.
All the pictures we took looked too good to omit but alas, some will have to stay home in the hard drive. The rest are here for your enjoyment.
WIP at Bangsar Shopping Centre is a lovely place to hang out if you are in Kuala Lumpur. Their opening hours are simply stated as “Noon until closing”; and from what we understand closing can be very very late, or even early the next morning. Located some way off the main Bukit Bintang tourist belt, not many visitors to Kuala Lumpur find their way to WIP at Bangsar. It is, however, popular with locals in the know – for lunch, high tea, evening cocktails or to party the night away. It was said to be one of Malaysia’s best kept secrets. Continue reading →
We had a good lunch for 10 Malaysian ringgit (about S$3.80 at current exchange rate) at a 5 star location in Nusajaya, Malaysia. Puteri Harbour Cafe & Bar is a restaurant in the public marina of Puteri Harbour in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia. The restaurant faces the marina and has both indoor and outdoor seatings. It serves a wide range of local and western food. It is a wonderful venue for a meal with a view at very affordable prices. Continue reading →
