Middle Eastern cuisine at Levant restaurant, Greenwood Ave

Levant Middle Eastern Cuisine15(Note: We believe the outlet has closed)

Levant Restaurant is located along the stretch of shops at Greenwood Avenue, off Bukit Timah Road. It is an eclectic mix of shops, including a laundry, the smallest Cold Storage supermarket (that we have seen) but is most well-known for its interesting collection of restaurants here. Levant Restaurant serves Middle Eastern cuisine.  Most of the restaurants here serve “Western” cuisine, particularly Italian, so it is refreshing to find a restaurant like Levant when you are looking to try something a bit different.

Delightful Malay Food at Haig Road Food Centre

Haig Road Putu Piring

Haig Road Market & Food Centre

Haig Road connects Katong and Geylang, two of the most popular eating places in Singapore. It should come as no surprise to find plenty of food establishments in and around Haig Road. There are many restaurants, cafes and food stalls in the modern air-conditioned One KM Mall. If you want a purer experience of eating good local street food, head on to the Haig Road Market & Food Centre. What to eat there? There is a wide variety of options.

Lunch specials at Mado cafe at Jem (Outlet Closed)

Mado @ Westgate07

With so many shopping malls located at Jurong East, the people working or living here are really spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping and eating. The two nicest malls are Jem and Westgate which are just next to eat other. Viewed together as one destination, you can find many, many stores and restaurants here. On weekends, the place is packed. On weekdays, things are less busy and so you can find some good lunch deals here. We recently tried the $9.90 set lunch at Mado Cafe in the Jem Shopping Mall.

What is there to eat at Din Tai Fung apart from xiao long bao?

DinTaiFung-13

It has been some time since we were at Suntec City, so we were quite impressed by what we saw when we were there recently for lunch. After the major renovations at Suntec City, the retail area near the convention halls have been substantially revamped and there is now quite a variety of restaurants available. There are a few new Japanese and Korean restaurants that were quite tempting.  But in the end, we decided to eat at Din Tai Fung, for the simple reason that we were early and there was no queue (the photo above was taken after our lunch – what a difference an hour makes).

Although they have many branches in Singapore, we have seldom eaten at Din Tai Fung because there is always a queue. And we realised that every time we were there, we would just zoom in onto their world-famous xiao long bao plus maybe one or two side dishes. Looking at their menu, there is actually a whole range of dumplings which we somehow have ignored. This time we were determined to explore the menu a bit more.

尚苑 My Dining Room Hong Kong Cantonese Cuisine (Closed)

尚苑 My Dining Room

尚苑 My Dining Room Hong Kong Cantonese Cuisine is a new Chinese restaurant that has just opened on the second level of Suntec City Mall. We were drawn to the restaurant by its attractive front entrance area with a mix of colours and textures in the interior design. The restaurant has an extensive menu and the dim sum items we tried were good.
