(June 2016 update – Flock has been replaced by Semper Coffee – see pictures at the of this post)
Residents of Ghim Moh may have had it good in terms of food choices. The coffee shops and food centre offer many choices, some of them top-notch local food (read, for example, our review on the famous char siew stall here). Yet there was still some emptiness, a longing for something more trendy, more international and perhaps most importantly, air-conditioning. Perhaps the opening of a hip new cafe by Flock will address this void. Will it be the start of the hip-eration of Ghim Moh?
“I Want My Noodle” is the name of a new noodle shop that has opened early this year in the new and improved Shaw Centre. The freshly made egg noodles are the attraction here and I could not resist ordering some just to sample it.
Being curious about the newly completed Capitol Theatre mall, now named Capitol Piazza, we strolled in to check out what the new place had to offer and more importantly, what is there to eat. Basically, only one block out of the three building blocks is completed and open to the public. Within this block only a handful of shops is operational. In other words, the place is still a large construction site, but you can see the final product taking shape. We will show you other pictures of Capitol Piazza in our next post. One of the three restaurants that were open was the Rosti Farm.
Cedele opened a bakery cafe in 112 Katong earlier this year. They offer a good range of sandwiches, salads and soups. It has long opening hours and is a good place for breakfast or late supper and anything in between. The bakery also gives those living nearby a great option should they realise late in the evening that they have forgotten to buy bread for the next day’s breakfast.
Before we write about the restaurant, let’s get its location right first. It is at Orchard Central@Emerald which is the small building on the same side of the road as Centrepoint. It is linked by the tubular overhead bridge across Orchard Road to its big brother, Orchard Central. Located on the fifth floor, Tburu is a newly opened Japanese restaurant where we had lunch recently.
