The new Atout Restaurant has taken over from Au Petit Salut at Dempsey Hill, Singapore. The place looks roughly the same as what we remember APS to be. According to the statement on Au Petit Salut’s website announcing its closure after operating for two decades, the “… owner, Alice Low-Ang has decided to retire and will take a passive role partnering the iconic chef, Patrick Heuberger in a new restaurant, ATOUT (pronounced as Ah-Too).” It felt more casual, we missed the nice thick tablecloths when we were last at APS (read about our visit here).
Our regular readers will know that we made an unsuccessful attempt to dine at So France Singapore Bistro a month ago. We were there when they just opened but at that time only snacks and drinks were served. This time, we did not fail. Armed with a confirmed reservation, we made our way to So France Bistro and Epicerie at Duo Galleria (connected to Bugis MRT Station) for lunch. You can read more about the bistro and gourmet store in our post about our unsuccessful visit here.
So France is one of the more exciting new eateries to open at the Duo Galleria. So when we read from the website that they opened on 22 March 2018, we were there soon after. But we jumped the gun. They were technically correct as they did open for business but only the cafe for drinks and snacks as well as retail sales at the epicerie. We were told that real food is only served when the bistro opens today (26 March 2018). Our short visit was not entirely in vain as we did stop by for coffee and snacks and had a look around. We liked what we saw and will certainly be back. So just treat this as a preview until we do a real review.
