Din Tai Fung Opens New Restaurant in Novena Featuring New Dishes & Breakfast Options

Din Tai Fung is opening a new restaurant in Novena Square with exclusive breakfast options. The new venue offers the brand’s classic favourites alongside an exclusive array of mouth-watering breakfast items. This includes Steamed Buns and Pan Fried Buns.

Specially designed to cater to the working crowd in the Novena business district, the new Din Tai Fung restaurant offers an exciting lineup of innovative dishes available all day, along with earlier operating hours for those seeking takeaway breakfast options on the go.

The exclusive breakfast menu offers four new distinctive pan fried buns – Pan Fried Pork Buns 鲜肉生煎包, Pan Fried Chilli Crab and Pork Buns 辣蟹鲜肉生煎包, Pan Fried Shrimp and Pork Buns 虾仁鲜肉生煎包, and Pan Fried Cabbage and Pork Buns 白菜鲜肉生煎包.

New steamed buns are Steamed Chocolate Buns 溏心巧克力包, Steamed Sweet Purple Potato Buns 紫薯包., Steamed Butter Buns 牛油包, and Steamed Lava Chocolate Cake Xiao Long Bao 蛋糕巧克力小笼包.

Singapore’s budding bakers take centre stage at Orchard Central’s Baker X with a brand new thematic line-up – “Around the World in Bakes and Sweets”. Starting from June, four home-based bakers will offer a delicious adventure across continents, showcasing diverse sweet treats.

Kicking things off is Love For Wagashi (@love.for.wagashi) from June 2nd to August 18th, specialising in handcrafted Japanese wagashi. Founder Dionne Ho brings a taste of Japan with nerikiri (red bean paste creations), mochi-wrapped daifuku, and refreshing yuzu sake anmitsu.

Pastories (November to December) will offer familiar flavours from closer to home with egg tarts and wife cakes. European classics take over from August to October with Pastry Haven by Helen showcasing French and Italian delights like madeleines and financiers. The global baking tour concludes in Bordeaux, France, with Cassia Canelés offering up to 50 flavours of the famed canelés pastry from December this year to February next year.

Baker X provides a platform for home bakers to test their concepts and gain a wider audience, offering a unique selection of sweet treats for those seeking a taste of the world.

W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, the luxury resort in Sentosa, has partnered with Michelin-starred Burnt Ends Bakery for a pop-up experience showcasing their artisanal pastries and breads.

From 24 May to 16 June 2024, guests can visit SKIRT Terrace, the hotel’s award-winning steakhouse, to enjoy a selection of freshly baked croissants, sourdough loaves, and signature doughnuts filled with Nutella, Milo Dinosaur, and more. Guests can pair their treats with a cup of coffee brewed using Burnt Ends Bakery’s special house blend. This delicious collaboration is available every Friday to Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.

The grand launch of The Singapore EDITION took place over the weekend, boasting a guest list including Donnie Yen, Cissy Wang, Fiona Xie, Arissa Cheo, Nathan Hartono, Hossan Leong and more. Guests gathered at the 13-storey boutique hotel and made their way to FYSH at EDITION, the hotel’s signature restaurant, a modern seafood steakhouse by Australian star chef Josh Niland. They were treated to a multi-course family-style dinner featuring Niland’s fin-to-tail aged seafood and zero waste philosophy.

The event saw the debut of the hotel’s exclusive ‘micro club’ Wonder Room, showcasing a set of world-class performances and free-flow bottle service.

Largest Fish in GFM’s History, A 180kg Halibut

Greenwood Fish Market (GFM) marked a significant milestone – the arrival of their largest catch in their 20-year seafood journey, a colossal 180kg Icelandic wild-caught halibut. The fish is enough for the approximately 300 portions of fish and chips.

The sheer size of this halibut is impressive, with its head alone weighing 14kg and its tail a hefty 30kg. The tail will undergo a 5-7 day dry ageing process to enhance its flavour and texture. The 180kg Icelandic halibut will be available at all GFM outlets while stocks last.
