Kamome closing Joo Chiat Outlet

Popular Japanese bakery Kamome announced that the Joo Chiat Outlet would be closing. The shop would operate till 11am, Sunday 24th March 2024.

The original store in Novena (169 Thomson Road Goldhill Shopping Centre, Singapore 307621) remains open, and will be opened everyday from April 2024.

They now also have an outlet in Paragon (290 Orchard Rd B1-K27 Paragon, Singapore 238859).

Hawker heroes face-off at Food & Beverage Fair 2024

The18th Food & Beverage Fair will run from 29 February to 3 March 2024 at Singapore EXPO Hall 5B. Besides a spread of local delights and international cuisine, there will be a line of flash deals, games, lucky draws, giveaways and live performances. On 2 March, catch the stars of King of Hawkers who will be helming the main stage at the Food & Beverage Fair from 3 pm to 3.30 pm.

Domino’s Singapore has launched its latest culinary masterpiece – the new Cheese Volcano Pizza in two flavors, Cheese Volcano Hawaiian Paradise and Cheese Volcano Beef Pepperoni (start from $33.90 for a 12” Large). Each pizza comes with a hot liquid cheese centre for consumers to dunk their pizzas in.

There is also a new I-Heart-You Chocolate Lava Cake which is perfect for Valentine’s Day ($9.50 when you order a la carte and $7.50 when you order as an add-on with any pizza purchase).

The opening of FairPrice Finest Century Square introduces an elevated shopping experience with integrated F&B dine-in options. These include the option to wine and dine in-store by enjoying a drink at The Grocer Bar, or enjoy freshly prepared meals with the Pick ‘n’ Cook service at The Grocer Kitchen.

The F&B dine-in space will also be periodically transformed to house special pop-ups and events, so that shoppers can partake in experiential food and drinks events to enjoy greater value from shopping at FairPrice Finest.

27 Scotts Road, Singapore 228222 wants you to see pastries in new light, for its main starring role, not just to end a meal, but in a full experience from start till end, with AMI Patisserie’s first dedicated physical concept. Nestled on the grounds of a black and white bungalow at 27 Scotts Road is the standalone Kyo Machiya (京町家) styled after a Kyoto-style wooden townhouse.

Within the physical concept is an elegant 12-seat Patisserie Café to gather for all occasions and bond over a fine a la carte collection, ranging from signature tartes and choux, to parfaits, desserts, viennoiseries, as well as savoury croissants – all finished à la minute and artfully presented.

It is also a destination for those seeking a deeper gastronomic affair, where one can journey through the Chef’s Table Discovery Experience of sweets and savouries. This pastry-led six-course tasting menu ($118++ per person) is a thoughtful curation of sweets and savouries that showcase seasonal Japanese and European produce at their prime; inviting diners to appreciate pastries in a complete and fulfilling gastronomic experience. The dining adventure unfolds in the Tsudoi Dining Room – ‘Tsudoi’ (集い) meaning ‘a friendly gathering’ in Japanese – anchored by an 8-seat counter.

Surrey Hills Grocer teams up with pioneer gallery in the Japanese art scene, Whitestone Gallery, and British artist, Philip Colbert, for a celebration of food and art.

Often referred to as the “godson of Andy Warhol” and renowned for his distinctive cartoon lobster persona, Philip Colbert is a Scottish-born British artist who has left an indelible mark across the globe.

To celebrate his inaugural large-scale solo exhibition in Singapore from 6 January to 3 March 2024, Surrey Hills Grocer’s ION Orchard and Raffles City outlets will be given a makeover on its exterior with an adornment of Philip’s iconic lobster illustrations and a human-sized sculpture of his lobster alter ego to greet you upon entering.

Inspired by Philip’s artwork, Surrey Hills Grocer will also be launching an exclusive “Philip Colbert Lobster Roll” during this one-month collaboration. Located on the Korean food strip of Tanjong Pagar Road, the newly-launched Sagye Korean Pot Rice and BBQ is the first sotbap specialty restaurant to introduce Singaporeans to the traditional dish. Sotbap directly translates to ‘pot rice’. Sagye puts a spin on the traditional sotbap by offering diners with three choices of rice – plain Japanese rice, five grain rice or Japanese rice with sweet potatoes and gingko nuts for a sweeter and more nuanced option.

Sotbap is available only at lunch. Pot-rice sets range from $17.80 to $38.80 and offer great value with house-made ban-chan – side dishes – and soup offered on the side.

In the evening, Sagye transforms into an indulgent hot stone BBQ restaurant specialising in aged meat such as Aged USA Boneless Loin Hanging Tender, Aged NZ Wagyu Boneless Oyster Blade, Aged USA Creekstone Finger Rib.

Marking its fifth-year milestone, Pâtisserie CLÉ’s flagship store moves into a charming shophouse in River Valley at 415 River Valley Road. The city location gives fans of the homegrown brand convenient access to their offerings of finely executed French pastries and entremets, available for takeaway and delivery only. For those craving an augmented experience, a full-fledged Pâtisserie CLÉ café set in the idyllic residential enclave of Dairy Farm is also slated to open in mid-December.

Exclusive and newly launched at the River Valley flagship, the Apple Nutmeg Cake ($10) pays tribute to the area’s history as a nutmeg plantation in the early 19th century. Also new is the Tropico Tart ($10) – a burst of refreshing tropical fruit flavours.

Vienoisseries and savouries will also be available at both the River Valley and Dairy Farm outlets.
