Hail the long-awaited Hairy Crab season at Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant as the prized crustaceans make a return. Guests may choose from a selection of five exquisite a la carte dishes for lunch and dinner.
New this year, the Braised Garoupa Roll with Hairy Crabmeat and Crab Roe ($38 per person) is a floral-inspired creation featuring the fillet that is tastefully presented like a rose. Another newfangled creation is the Deep-fried Crispy Dumpling with Hairy Crabmeat and Crab Roe ($38 per person), a delectable highlight with fresh crabmeat encased within.
Other crowd pleasing dishes include the hearty Stewed Crystal Hor Fun with Lobster Meat ($52 per person) and indulgent Braised Bird’s Nest with Hairy Crabmeat and Crab Roe ($98 per person) To best savour the natural sweetness of the prized crustacean, it is recommended to enjoy the hairy crab steamed. As these crabs are known to be ‘cooling’, hot ginger tea will be served to balance diners’ body constitution.

New Griglia Open Fire Italian Kitchen
Griglia, nestled on the ground level of a 3-storey conservation shophouse along Craig Road, is a new 41-seater restaurant with an open kitchen. Inspired by the outdoor setting of a summer outdoor grill known as the grigliat, its warm and cosy interior showcases wood, brick and metal, raw materials and elements closely linked to fire. Griglia recreates the magic of classic grigliata dishes cooked in a specially customised cast iron charcoal grill, using traditional and modern methods to make them even lighter and more refreshing. Chin Mee Chin Confectionery Reopens
The East Coast icon, Chin Mee Chin Confectionery, reopens its doors. The Hainanese-style coffeeshop that has been operating in Katong since the 1920s closed its doors in 2018. It has been revived under lifestyle brand Ebb & Flow Group and is helmed by Maxine Ngooi, who also runs Tigerlily Patisserie.
Maxine Ngooi has been working with Sharon Tan, granddaughter of the confectionery’s late founder, and her mother Leong Kwang Ling, to recreate some of Chin Mee Chin’s traditional bakes. The good old kaya toast and eggs are still the fans’ favourites.
