Pan Pacific Singapore Debuts Chinese New Year Red Packets That Come to Life with Augmented Reality

Pan Pacific Singapore debuts experiential red packets incorporating augmented reality (AR), offering revellers an element of fun during this festive period. This year, the hotel collaborated with 14-year-old Tee Xyn Pyn Angel, a Young Budding Artist with 10 Square Youth (supported by The Business Times Budding Artist Fund), to design the AR animation on the key peony illustration incorporated into its Chinese New Year red packets, carrier bags and brochure. When viewed through the Artivive App via smartphone or tablet, a lively oriental soundtrack plays, the peonies bloom to life and viewers will witness a butterfly with yellow and black wings fluttering around the flowers.
All guests who partake in the hotel’s Chinese New Year dining offerings or purchase Chinese New Year goodies from now till 8 February 2020 will receive a set of eight red packets and a carrier bag.

Chin Mee Chin inviting expression of interest
The iconic Chin Mee Chin Confectionery in Katong has been closed for some time. Initially, there was a sign that said it would be temporarily closed. Then there was a new sign which said it would be closed until further notice. It looks like Chin Mee Chin is not likely to reopen anytime soon. We just saw a sign announcing business opportunities with Chin Mee Chin. They may be looking for partners or investors or someone to buy the brand, which carries considerable goodwill.

Soi Thai Soi Nice has launched its Chinese New Year menu infused with the restaurant’s Thai Teochew flavours. Featuring Prosperous Salmon Yusheng (鸿运当头), Soaring Soft Shell Crab Yusheng (步步高升) & Heng Heng Rui Rui Pen Cai (兴兴旺旺), the menu will be an exciting and refreshing option for this lunar new year. The unique yusheng creation is prepared with a Thai twist featuring shredded papaya, mango, fresh vegetables & traditional pickles and a special homemade sweet & sour Thai dressing. The Heng Heng Rui Rui Pen Cai features luxe eats doused with the restaurant’s signature homemade Tom Yum soup.
