This year you can’t go and stand in the usual long queue at 林志源 Lim Chee Guan even if you wanted to. There will be no walk-in sales for BBQ products from 20 January to 9 February 2021. Customers have to place orders online for items to be delivered from 13 January to 9 February 2021.

Iconic Long Bar Returns with Singapore Sling Offer and Snack Menu

An integral part of Raffles Hotel Singapore’s storied history and home of the Singapore Sling for over a hundred years, Long Bar reopens its doors from 7 January 2021 for guests to enjoy the most iconic cocktail in the city. Set amidst a lively ambience with plantation-inspired décor and the famous bar counter, a nod to its heritage, Long Bar offers the perfect cosy space for social get-togethers, and celebrations.

To welcome the community back to the legendary bar, Raffles Hotel Singapore is offering an exclusive promotion with every purchase of the Original Singapore Sling (S$35++). Available from 7 January till 31 March 2021, guests who order an Original Singapore Sling are entitled to an additional complimentary Original Singapore Sling or one snack of their choice from the Asian-inspired bar bites menu.

The snacks menu will offer a selection of Asian small plates including authentic Singaporean delights such as Singapore Chilli Crab Cake (S$22++), made with succulent crabmeat and chilli crab sauce, Spicy Tiger Prawns (S$16++), enveloped with sweet and sour sauce accompanied with a refreshing green papaya salad, and more. Guests can also indulge in the “Long Bar” Chocolate Peanut Bar (S$15++), from the menu, a nod to the unique Long Bar experience of snacking on peanuts from a gunny sack.

F&B newcomer The JOMO Group have launched their first neighbourhood bar + kitchen + bottle shop ‘JOMO’ in Holland Village.

Open 7-days a week, JOMO offers dine in and take-away options. The family-friendly menu has a wide selection of dishes including aged Aussie angus burgers, deep-fried pork belly, and homemade pies all from master butchers Sidecar Handcrafted. Other highlights include a 1.2 kg meat platter with fries and coleslaw, enough for 5 people and priced at only $88 nett. Family BBQs powered by Sidecar Handcrafted are held every Sunday with two seating options available, 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm.


JOMO has over 250 wines and spirits, including 40 gins by the bottle, and 50 wines at $50 nett per bottle. JOMO’s super-dry low-carb lager beer is available together with four beers on tap at $8 nett per pint ($6 nett during Happy Hour). Take-away 2.5L beer pouches are also on offer at $28 nett, and there is no surcharge for take-away or in-house dining.

Monster Planet, the halal-certified brand of Monster Curry has landed in Singapore with its first outlet Causeway Point.

Known for the giant-sized 35cm and 41cm of curry rice served atop rice and various ingredients, and signature demi-glaced curry, dishes on its menu will include the Monster Curry Combo ($27.8) comprising a mixture of Chicken Katsu, Beef Shabu-Shabu, Shrimp Tempura, Fried Fish and topped with Cheese and Curry, good for up to 3 people to share. There are exclusive dishes available on Monster Planet’s menu, such as the Lemongrass Chicken, Churros Fries and Bandung Chin Chow Jelly. In 2017, Carles Gaig, a celebrated chef whose name is synonymous with Catalan cuisine, opened Restaurant Gaig in Singapore,the first international outpost of the Michelin-starred restaurant in Barcelona. His daughter and 5th generation Gaig, Núria Gibert, led the restaurant with executive chef Martí Carlos Martínez, who was under the tutelage of Carles in Barcelona. 

The restaurant won the hearts of local diners with its recipes, some dating back to the 19th century, and its affable heartfelt hospitality that transported them into the typical home of a Catalan family.  Four years on Restaurant Gaig spreads its wings once again like its colourful avian namesake; and promises to deliver a heightened culinary experience with an enhanced and immersive menu and an expanded dining space.

This new chapter in the restaurant’s journey sees the addition of individual dining enclaves, as well as a private dining room with seating for up to 10, to the existing space. Chef Martí has also transformed the repertoire; working closely with his mentor Carles and Núria to curate an immersive Catalan menu showcasing Gaig’s heritage dishes along with innovative fare inspired by memories and traditional recipes.
