Famous Treasure Capitol Piazza is a new Chinese restaurant to open at this small shopping mall annexed to the Capitol Theatre. It takes over the space formerly occupied by the Four Seasons Chinese Restaurant which was famous for their duck dishes. We were told that there is a Famous Treasure restaurant in Sembawang and this is their second outlet which is more posh and upmarket. We must admit we have not heard of this famous restaurant when we decided to check it out. We were glad that we did so and that they had decided to set up shop in a more accessible part of Singapore.
House of Peranakan Capitol Piazza is the latest outlet of the House of Peranakan group of restaurants. According to the House of Peranakan website, they were established in Katong in the 80s and has been “managed by a pure Peranakan family for three generations”. Its other outlets are in Katong, Siglap and Tiong Bahru.
The Oriole Coffee + Bar at Capitol Piazza is like the quiet demure sibling of the brash extrovert, Oriole at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites in Somerset. The Oriole at Pan Pacific is located at a pedestrian corridor with high human traffic. It has an outdoor dining area, which can be a nice spot to people-watch. In contrast, Oriole Coffee + Bar at Capitol Piazza is tucked away in a quiet corner of level 2 of the mall. Its neighbors are upscale boutiques. Besides fellow diners at Oriole Capitol Piazza, the only people you can watch are the bored boutique assistants. However, if you like a quiet comfortable space for a good cup of coffee, Oriole Coffee + Bar at Capitol Piazza is almost the perfect spot. It is also a good place for meals. Oriole has just introduced a new set lunch deal.
Ramen & Tonkatsu Ma Maison is one of the recently opened restaurants in Capitol Piazza. Ma Maison’s new concept restaurant located in the basement of Capitol Piazza features specialty Hokkaido Cheese Ramen. Besides the cheese ramen, it also offers a good variety of the more usual ramen as well as Ma Maison signature tonskatsu. Continue reading →
Zaku Japanese Restaurant is one of the new restaurants that had opened at Capitol Piazza, Singapore. It is a casual restaurant where the sake and beer are given as much prominence as the food. Looks like a good place to adjourn to for happy hour after work or before watching a show at the Capitol Theatre. Given the awful haze that we are currently experiencing, this may also be a pleasant location to pass some time in the comfortable environment of an enclosed air-conditioned cocoon.
