Diamond Kitchen is a popular Chinese restaurant in Laguna Park, Marine Parade. Although it opened less than two years ago, it has developed a strong following and enjoys the strong patronage, especially from residents living in the East (read our review here). Penang Chiak is a new eatery which has just opened for business. Situated along Beach Road, opposite The Concourse, this small self-service restaurant serves a variety of Penang street food including Lok Lok. The prices are very reasonable and the Assam Lasak and Koay Teow Soup we tried were good authentic Penang-styled versions.

新粤 Xin Yue Modern Chinese Restaurant is a new restaurant in UE Square, so it has a River Valley Road address although it is along Mohamed Sultan Road. Helmed by Chef Fung Chi Keung, 新粤 Xin Yue aims to present a fresh new take on Cantonese cuisine although it has a past connection with a familiar Singapore restaurant chain. Their signature Fried Carrot Cake with XO Sauce looked and tasted remarkably similar to that served in Taste Paradise. Monochrome Fusion Bistro is a newly opened restaurant along South Bridge Road. True to its name, its decor is all black and white. In fact, its indoor lighting is so brightly white that sunglasses may be needed.  We checked out this bistro to see if its food will pass with flying colours.

尚苑 My Dining Room Hong Kong Cantonese Cuisine is a new Chinese restaurant that has just opened on the second level of Suntec City Mall. We were drawn to the restaurant by its attractive front entrance area with a mix of colours and textures in the interior design. The restaurant has an extensive menu and the dim sum items we tried were good.
