Mercure Singapore Bugis is a relatively new hotel in Singapore. Song Garden is the Chinese restaurant at Mercure Bugis which opened around early 2017. It is apparently helmed by veteran chefs. According to a Straits Times article, Chef Wong Shea Nung used to work at Hong Kong’s famous Fook Lam Moon restaurant and the dim sum chef also hails from Hong Kong. We had a Song Garden dim sum lunch recently.
PS.Cafe Raffles City is another new PS Cafe to open in Singapore. We were impressed by the interior design of PS.Cafe Fullerton opened a few months earlier. The new cafe in Raffles city is another gorgeous dining space. Designed as a house within a building, PS.Cafe Raffles City is located in the sunlit atrium and has, besides their signature live plants and floral arrangements, a vertical garden behind the bar.
Hans im Glück creates a forest in a city (not in Forest City but right in the heart of Singapore’s Orchard Road). The German Burgergrill is named after the fairy tale “Hans in Luck” (or Hans im Glück in German) by the Grimm Brothers. Walk into Hans im Glück Singapore and you walk into a restaurant resembling a German forest with birch logs installed in the beautifully decorated space. Its thick menu, which looks like a fairy tale book, offers burgers for vegetarians, vegans and die-hard meat eaters.

Orient Palace (禧家) is a new restaurant at the Furama Riverside Hotel, Singapore. If the name of hotel sounds unfamiliar, you are not alone. We had to do some research to discover that it is the former Apollo Hotel along Havelock Road. The short cylindrical building that used to house karaoke places is known as the Annex Block. The Orient Palace is located on the ground floor of this Annex Block. According to their website, Orient Palace is “Singapore’s first premium contemporary dining and entertainment hub”.
