Lime @ ParkRoyal on Pickering

Lime-2

Lime is a restaurant on the ground level of the ParkRoyal on Pickering Hotel. It is elegantly decorated and through the full length glass walls you see lush greenery and water features, blocking out the busyness of the streets beyond.

The contemporary interior design of the spacious restaurant features open kitchens where the chefs can be seen performing their crafts. The place has both visual and culinary treats.

Lime has been making the news for their wonderful Sunday brunch, which is priced at $88; or $128 with free flow of Piper Heidsieck Champagne and house wines. On weekdays, buffet lunch is $45 and buffet dinner is $58 ($62 on Fridays and Saturdays). The beautifully laid out dessert table with the green tea chocolate fountain would be enough to tempt most to opt for the buffet. Signature dishes include Indonesian Style Oxtail Soup, Penang Char Kway Teow, Thai Green Chicken Curry, Margarita Pizza, Australian Organic Beef Tenderloin and Key Lime Pie. Other than international and Asian spreads, the buffet also offers Peranakan  favourites such as Ayam Buah Keluak, Babi Pong Teh, Udang Masak Nanas and Pong Tau Hu.

We were there on a weekday and wanted a quick lunch. We ordered the “William” Club Sandwich ($23) and the Fish & Chips ($27). The chicken and bacon sandwich came with a bowl of green salad and a basket of thick fries with chilli flakes. The chicken was a little too dry but on the whole the sandwich was tasty. The Fish & Chips were excellent. The batter for the dory fish was crisp and fried to a beautiful golden brown. Bite through the thin batter and the fish was succulent and has a delightful melt-in-the-mouth quality.

The service was professional, friendly and efficient. In spite of the large lunch time crowd and size of the restaurant, courteous and  attentive service was afforded by the staff.

Lime has a casual, welcoming atmosphere conducive for big groups as well as small families. It should be on the list of all those who like buffets. Their a la carte offerings are not bad either. Overall, Lime is probably one of the nicest places to go to for a meal if you are in the area around Pickering Street.
