Ishinomaki Grill & Sake is a Japanese restaurant that recently opened in September 2014 at the basement level of Palais Renaissance. Simply decorated, it stood out amongst its posh neighbours in this gentrified shopping mall.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by a nice waitress. Acting on her recommedations, we ordered the Yaki Iberico Pork Ozen ($28), Sashimi & Salmon Seiro Ozen (steamed salmon and rice) ($25), Sashimi and Tempura Ozen ($28) and Tenju ($17).
The dishes, as you can see, were well presented. The sashimi was fresh and the pork had a nice texture and flavour. Apart from that, the other items were all competently done but not something to write home about. The portions were generous. This is a place we will quite happily return to if we are in the area, but not a place we will deliberately seek out.
