Home Delivery by FoodPanda – Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo Lunch

Another day into the Singapore Circuit Breaker 2020, we decided to browse the options at the home delivery by FoodPanda website. It has been a while since we used Foodpanda delivery. We ended up ordering a Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo from Koo Kee Yong Tow Foo Mee (Sunset Way) which has a 4.3/5 star rating by reviewers on Foodpanda.

We are familiar with Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo as we have eaten it before at various times in the past. Unlike other YTF outlets in Singapore, the range of yong tau foo items at Koo Kee is limited. There is a fixed set of beancurd, fish cakes and fish balls that go with each dish. But they, as well as the noodles, have a unique and delicious Koo Kee flavour. We noted that most of the reviews rated Koo Kee’s food highly. Many of the low ratings came from delivery issues – spilled soup and wrong orders etc.

Our Home Delivery by FoodPanda Order

 We decided on the Koo Kee Set Meal (高记招牌套餐) ($5.20) ; Laksa Yong Tow Foo ($4.60) and Hong Kong Style Fried Bean Curd (港式风味炸豆腐) ($3.80). With a delivery fee of $2.99, the total lunch bill was $17.89.

Our Food

Here is a picture of our food. There was a bit of soup leakage but it was very minor compared to what we have read in the reviews. After unpacking, we noticed something was amiss. Where was the laksa yong tau foo? It seemed that the noodles had arrived in the plastic bag, but the yong tau fu in laksa soup was left out.

The fried bean curd was a tasty side dish. Served with a topping of bean sprouts and a thick spicy sauce, it resembled tahu goreng. It is a dish we would order again.

The yong tau foo set arrived intact. The dry noodles with a bit of minced meat topping and vegetables would make a great combination with the yong tau foo soup. But because the laksa yong tau foo went MIA, we improvised and released the other bag of noodles into the soup to make a soup noodle combination.

The dry noodles tasted very good with the sweet sauce and chili paste supplied. In the end our experience with the home delivery by FoodPanda was similar to that reflected in the reviews – the food was good, but we were disappointed that the laksa ytf did not make it.
