Crystal Jade GO – good Chinese fast food

Crystal Jade GO or CJ GO is a quick service casual restaurant offering freshly-prepared Chinese food at inexpensive prices. The first CJ GO Restaurant opened in United Square. There are outlets in Funan Mall and Oasis Terraces in Punggol and island wide delivery is now available.

Crystal Jade Chain

The Crystal Jade chain started with a Cantonese restaurant in Cairnhill Hotel in 1991. It has expanded beyond its traditional Cantonese cuisine and now has over 100 restaurants in more than 30 cities. The rise of the chain’s popularity could be traced back to the opening of its flagship restaurant, Crystal Jade Palace at Ngee Ann City, as well as a more casual Crystal Jade Kitchen at Isetan Scotts. The strategy of having both top notch Chinese restaurants as well casual outlets featuring simpler décor and more affordable menus has served the Crustal Jade Group well. CJ GO is another casual affordable concept to cater to those who want fast meals and on-the-go food with the assurance of Crystal Jade’s quality.

It looks like a typical fast food restaurant. The decor is simple but pleasant. The use of vibrant colours give the place a contemporary look.

Lunch at CJ GO United Square

We were in United Square for lunch and ordered Honey Roasted BBQ Pork Rice ($8.80) with Onsen Egg ($1.50), Silky Scrambled Egg with Honey Roasted BBQ Pork Rice ($9.20) and Mango Puree with Pomelo Sago ($4.20) from the CJ GO Menu. Our food was served within about 10 minutes.

The Honey Roasted BBQ Pork Rice was nicely presented. The cut of BBQ Pork was quite generous. The meat was sweet and tender. It was more lean than fatty. Even those who are more accustomed to dining in Crystal Jade Palace should find CJ GO’s Honey Roasted BBQ Pork more than decent.

Silky Scrambled Egg with Honey Roasted BBQ Pork Rice was served with a small bowl of salad.

The BBQ Pork was chopped into small pieces. The egg was soft and creamy. Everything combined well to make the simple dish quite palatable.

The Mango Puree with Pomelo Sago was nice and refreshing. It was as good as the mango pomelo sago served in Crystal Jade Palace.

Good Quick Meal

Crystal Jade GO gives you the same Crystal Jade quality food in a more casual and accessible setting. The menu offers mainly dim sum and one dish meals and the prices are reasonable. All these things make CJ GO a suitable option for anyone looking to have a quick simple meal but want good palatable food at affordable prices.
