Leisure Park Kallang, located next to the National Stadium and the Indoor Stadium, has an interesting mix of dining options. A new casual dining restaurant, Ando, has opened in Leisure Park Kallang, offering European-Japanese fusion cuisine at reasonable prices.
Ando Restaurant
Newly opened Ando is located on the ground level of Leisure Park Kallang. It has no regular front wall. There are no partitions, doors or windows separating the interior from the corridor of the mall. The wallless concept creates an inviting, airy feel.
The interior of Ando Restaurant exudes contemporary casual elegance. The seating arrangement can accommodate dining parties of various sizes.
Menu of Ando Restaurant
The new restaurant in Leisure Park Kallang describes itself as an “all-day dining EuroJapanese cafe/restaurant” serving “…interesting Appetizers, very impressionable Pasta, Pizza and Teppan mains as well as Desserts like Creme Brulee, Matcha Cheese Cake, Waffle and Fruit Granola”.
Sando is one of the items on the menu. Perhaps the name Ando is derived from “sando” which is the short form for “sandwich” Japanese style, typically made with thickly sliced shokupan.
Below are pictures of sections of the menu of Ando.
The new restaurant currently has lunch sets, priced at only $11.90.
Quick Meal at Ando
We were looking for a place for a simple quick meal at Leisure Park Kallang when we stumbled upon Ando. The Satsumaimo ($10.60) on the menu was the first thing that caught our eyes. We placed an order for the sweet potato appetizer. We also ordered the Truffle Kinoko Sando ($13.80) the Veganista pasta dish ($10.60).
Small glasses of refreshing palette cleansers were served as welcome drinks. The fruit juice concoctions were very refreshing.
Ando’s Satsumaimo was a purple sweet potato and corn fritter. It was pleasing to the eyes and good to eat. It was a light snack which flavourful. A very good dish to start off a meal.
Truffle Kinoko Sando was a fairly straightforward sandwich with truffle mushroom and nori seaweed filling. While many savoury sando fillings are served hot, the filling of Ando’s Truffle Kinoko Sando is served cold (like egg mayo filling we supposed).
Veganista was a simple photogenic dish. The spagehtti was cooked just right, with the amount of firmness and texture we liked. Cherry tomatoes added colour and a sweet and juicy burst of flavour to the dish. However, it was the garlic flakes that gave the simple pasta dish really bold flavours.
Good casual dining restaurant
The new Ando restaurant is a good casual dining restaurant. It has a welcoming and pleasant space, offers an interesting variety of food at reasonable prices and has good service.
