Singapore’s cafe scene continues to expand into the heartland and industrial area. The new Cafe Barco by Wunderfolks offers an inviting cafe experience in the heart of Kaki Bukit. This new addition to the neighbourhood promises a relaxed atmosphere, a Western-Japanese menu, and, of course, the signature delectable tarts from Wunderfolks.
Cafe in Kaki Bukit
Cafe Barco is situated within Techview Building in Kaki Bukit, close to the VICOM Inspection Centre (Kaki Bukit). It is located adjacent to the food court on Level One of Techview Building. Despite appearing to be on the basement level, this is not the case, as the main entrance to the building is actually on Level Two.
If you park at the Level 1 car park, Café Barco is just a short walk away on the same level. Exit A of Kaki Bukit MRT Station and the bus stop along Kaki Bukit Avenue 1 are both within 50 metres of the café.

The tables are comfortably spaced apart, enhancing the open and airy feel. There is a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The cafe can accommodate those dining solo, with family, or in a large group of friends or colleagues.
Cafe Barco’s Menu
Cafe Barco’s menu presents a blend of Western and Japanese flavours. From hearty brunch fare and sandos to satisfying pastas and donburi, there is something to please various palates throughout the day. The café also showcases Wunderfolks’ popular handmade tarts and pastries.
Order and payment are made at the counter. The food and drinks would be served to the table. No GST or service charge would be added to the bill.
Sando & Donburi
During our visit to Cafe Barco by Wunderfolks, we decided to try the Mentaiko Egg Mayo Sando ($8.80) and Curry Chicken Katsu Don ($14.80). We also had a tart and a couple of beverages to accompany our meal.
The Mentaiko Egg Mayo Sando was a simple yet satisfying combination of creamy egg salad and cod roe. The lightly toasted bread maintained its initial lightness and airy texture. The filling offered a comforting blend of rich eggs, creamy textures and a subtle briny undertone.
The Curry Chicken Katsu Don was a comforting and hearty dish, with the rich Japanese curry complementing the crispy chicken cutlet perfectly. Sitting atop a bed of steamed rice, the golden-brown chicken cutlet had a nice crunchiness. The aromatic curry sauce was mildly spicy and subtly sweet. It was a good one dish meal.
To quench our thirst, we opted for a Long Black ($4.50) and a Matcha Latte ($6). The coffee was rich and aromatic, while the matcha latte offered a well-balanced blend of earthy and creamy notes.
For dessert, we succumbed to temptation and ordered the Wunderfolks’ Strawberry Pistachio Tart ($8). This delightful treat consisted of a crisp, buttery tart base generously topped with a velvety blend of pistachio cream, strawberry compote, and pistachio bavarios, which had a smooth, mousse-like texture. The addition of freeze-dried strawberries provided a pleasing textural contrast. The tart was definitely the best part of our visit to Cafe Barco by Wunderfolks.
Great Spot for a Tart
Cafe Barco by Wunderfolks offers a pleasant dining experience with a fair selection of food and beverages. While the dishes sampled were enjoyable, the standout item is unquestionably Wunderfolks’ tart. The new cafe boasts a relaxed ambiance and accessible location, making it suitable for casual meals or coffee meetups. Cafe Barco is a worthwhile destination for those seeking a comfortable spot in Kaki Bukit to dine or enjoy a drink, especially for fans of Wunderfolks’ tarts.
