Tsujiri Premium Holland Village is one of several Singapore outlets of the famous matcha tea house from Kyoto Japan. This is their newest outlet at One Holland Village and is also the only one described as a “Premium” outlet. With premium items like TSUJIRI premium parfaits as well as savoury meals being served here, it looks like a classy Japanese cafe.
Matcha Tea House in Holland Village
According to the Tsujiri Singapore website, the TSUJIRI brand was first established by Mr Riemon Tsuji in 1860 in Kyoto, Japan. He is said to have advanced methods to enhance the flavors and sweetness of the tea and makes the highest quality Gyokuro tea leaves. In addition to the tea, they are also known for tea related products such as desserts and ice cream, made in tea and other flavours. In Singapore they currently have five outlets, the others being located in The Central, White Sands, Sengkang Grand Mall and Tanjong Pagar.
The Tsujiri Premium One Holland Village outlet is an attractive place. Other than the swing which adds a playful touch, but otherwise seems out of place, this cafe has a serious, mature atmosphere. This is probably the best cafe at One Holland Village to go to for a quiet place for a serious conversation. Or simply to enjoy the wonderful matcha tea and snacks.
Tsujiri Premium Holland Village Menu
At the time of our visit, the busiest part of the cafe was the ice cream counter which is right at the entrance. Here, many folks walked in simply to buy the Tsujiri ice cream (presumably one of the matcha flavours).
In addition to desserts and drinks, Tsujiri Holland Village also has a hot food menu. At lunch time there is a Tsujiri Premium Holland Village set lunch menu. Attracted by the inclusion of a free drink, we decided to try two items – a Hokkaido Scallop Shrimp Paste Pasta ($18.80) and a Salmon Ikura Ochazuke ($18.80).
Our Lunch at One Holland Village
Our choices for drinks were a hot Sencha tea and a Matcha Ice Blended. The matcha was the better choice as we could taste the nice taste of the iconic Japanese tea. The hot Sencha tea tasted like regular tea.
As for the main course, the better choice was the scallop pasta. All the components – scallops, pasta and sauce were tasty and blended well together. This is the one to go for if we visit again.
Our other dish looked good in the menu but was not as good and nice as we expected. The thinly sliced salmon coupled with the diluted tea combined to give us a rather bland meal.
Tsujiri Premium Dessert
Dessert was not included in the set lunch and so we looked for one from the a la carte menu. I cannot remember exactly which item this was, probably one of the TSUJIRI premium parfaits available at the One Holland V outlet. With a choice of ice cream (we picked the regular matcha) this dessert has red bean and some jelly cubes. The overall taste of this was very good.
