It has been more than 10 years since our first visit in 2014 to the Spanish restaurant at Orchard Road, La Taperia. It is a cosy place that we visit occasionally when we are in this part of Singapore and Spanish tapas come to mind.
La Taperia Spanish Restaurant
Located on level 2 of Shaw Centre, La Taperia is one of the brands of the Les Amis restaurant group which operates a number of restaurants in this building such as French restaurants Bistro Du Vin and the flagship three Michelin-starred Les Amis.
Some changes have been made to the decor over the years, but this Spanish restaurant at Orchard Road still looks roughly the same. Dark wood chairs, bold patterned tile flooring and vibrant Spanish posters create a traditional Spanish bistro atmosphere.
Three Course Lunch Menu
Our last visit to this Spanish restaurant at Shaw Centre was in 2021 when we also tried the set lunch. At that time, the set lunch price was $38++. The price has gone up, but thankfully, quite modestly. You can read about our 2021 lunch here. Here are pictures of the 2025 La Taperia set lunch. The three course lunch starts from $42 ++.
Set Lunch at Spanish Restaurant at Orchard Road
Our choices of appetisers were lobster bisque (picture above) and grilled Spanish octopus leg (picture below). These choices required extra payments of $3 and $6 respectively. The bisque had a concentrated rich seafood flavour and was better than we expected. We were equally satisfied with the octopus leg which impressed us both by its texture and taste. We were happy to pay the surcharges for these items.
Our main courses were grilled Greenland halibut (picture above) and braised Australian beef cheek. We did not like the halibut. The beef cheek made up for the fish with a very tender texture and nice gravy. Thankfully, the portion was quite large.
It was easy to pick the desserts. We chose the two that did not require extra payments – churros and choux puff creme patissier. Both were quite nice, but we like the latter more because of its looks.
Coffee was not included as part of our set lunch at La Taperia Spanish restaurant at Orchard Road. But it was available as an add-on for an extra $2 per person. We thought this was quite reasonable. Nice desserts like these deserve to be enjoyed with some coffee.
