Cote Singapore is the first international outpost of Cote Korean Steakhouse which has outlets in New York, Miami and Las Vegas. Both of Cote’s NYC and Las Vegas outlets are listed in Robb Report’s 8 Best Steakhouses in the World. So we had high expectations as we checked out the new Korean steakhouse in Singapore COMO Orchard.

Korean BBQ meets American Steakhouse at COMO Orchard
According to the restaurant website, COTE Singapore remains true to COTE’s philosophy of combining the conviviality of Korean barbecue with the hallmarks of a classic American steakhouse. The first sign that we were visiting a serious steakhouse was this large chiller filled with aging meat. The dim red light, reminiscent of the safelight in photography dark rooms, casts an eerie glow.

The Korean BBQ part was obvious once we entered the main dining area. A gleaming metal grill was present on each table. The serious dark interior together with black leather seats gave out the sombre vibes of traditional American steakhouses.

Placed near the entrance is the attractive bar counter with sparkling bottles of booze, shining brightly in the darkness like a jewel.

Cote Singapore Menu
There is a lunch menu probably aimed at diners who would like a quick Korean lunch. This is a screenshot of the Cote Singapore lunch menu.

The dinner menu (which is also available in the day) offers more variety to diners. An a la carte menu is available as well as a “Butcher’s Feast” option ($118++) that serves four types of beef together with an assortment of side dishes. That was the option that we picked. Here is a picture of a portion of the dinner menu including the details of the Cote Butcher’s Feast. The full menu is available online (link at the end of this post).

The Side Dishes
Sometimes the side dishes at Korean restaurants can be as interesting as the main courses. As part of the Butcher’s Feast, four types of side dishes were served as well as a savoury egg soufflé, two types of stews and rice.

All of these sides were good and helped to break the monotony of a meat-filled meal. The egg soufflé and kimchi stew were the best of the lot.

Butcher’s Feast at COTE Singapore
The four types of beef were presented to us at the start of the meal. Two from USA and Australia respectively. Our server was a polite young man who asked for our preferences as to how we like our meat and how fast we like to proceed. We were very satisfied with how these preferences were acceded to throughout the meal.

These are pictures of the cooking as the lunch progressed. I failed to keep track of which meat was which. It is safe to say that all of the meat was cooked exactly as we liked. The total quantity of beef was not very large. On their own, it would be enough for a light lunch for two. But thanks to the side dishes this became a substantial lunch.

Free Flow Beverage Package
In addition to the usual drinks and wine list, there is also a Cote Singapore 2 hour free-flow beverage package. This was priced from $88++ depending on the type of sparkling wine to be served. We selected the basic one that features a Spanish sparkling wine. Apart from that there were other types of wine, cocktails, beer and other alcoholic drinks available.

We did not manage to try everything on the list but we think we did well to sample all the wines and cocktails.

They were ok in general perhaps not very memorable. But value for money for those with a healthy liver. The best one of the lot was the white wine – 2019 Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon. It is best not to drive when trying out this package.

Finally a cup of ice cream for an end to the boozing lunch at Cote Singapore COMO Orchard.
