Jelita Gourmet Food Court: Char Siew Rice and 24Hr Fishball Kway Teow

Jelita Gourmet food court is the main attraction after the new Jelita Mall reopened after renovations. With Cold Storage on the ground floor and the new food court on level 2, this could be a convenient meeting place for residents at Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. On this trip, we stopped by to try two of the stalls there.

Lift Access From Jelita Mall Basement Carpark

One major change arising out of the Jelita renovations is the installation of a lift from the Jelita basement carpark to upper floors. Currently, the lift is programed to stop at the basement and level 2 only (skipping level 1 where Cold Storage is). The escalators connecting level 1 and 2 remain the same and are still running.

This is the view when the lift opens on level 2. A warm welcome from the lush flowers celebrating the grand opening of the of Jelita Gourmet. We were there on a weekday lunch time. It was slightly busy but with no difficulty getting a table. With so many stalls to choose from (you can see the overview of all of them in our earlier post), it was difficult to choose. We landed on these two.

Ming Xuan Roasted Delights Jelita Gourmet Food Court

It was rather easy to decide on the first stall. Ming Xuan Roasted Delights has a delicious display of roasted pork and ducks which is eye catching. Which seems to be working as it appears to be a popular stall here. There was a short queue of three people when we were there. We decided on a platter of char siew for two person one braised egg and one plate of rice. The total price: $15.50.

Quantity wise, the char siew was decent, enough for two people to share. But we wished that the pork was less fatty and more charred. We missed the smoky style of 88 Hong Kong Roast.

Ah Ma Chi Mian 阿嬷吃麵 Jelita Gourmet Food Court

We also tried a fishball kway teow soup from the Ah Ma Chi Mian noodle stall. According to their Facebook page they have around 10 outlets in Singapore. The new Jelita outlet is apparently open 24 hours everyday.

The usual food court noodle options such as dry and soup noodles are available. Was pleasantly surprised to see laksa on the menu as well.
