The story of Killiney Kopitiam is traced back to 1919 when the shophouse at 67 Killiney Road was established. On this site, “Kheng Hoe Heng (琼和兴)’, a traditional coffee shop was set up. This coffee shop was later renamed “Killiney Kopitiam” in 1993.

Much has changed since then. Killiney coffee outlets seem to be everywhere nowadays. A quick look on the website shows that there are more than 40 outlets in Singapore. The coffee empire has spread to many parts of Singapore. With outlets in the busy CBD and Orchard Road areas as well as places further afield such as Sembawang Shopping Centre, Wisteria Mall, Woodlands Square and Harbourfront Tower.

Killiney Kopitiam at 67 Killiney Road Review

The original Killiney Kopitiam looked more or less the same as how we remembered it to be. But was cleaner than we anticipated. The walls and floor were spotless. The table surfaces look new, made even whiter by the bright lights.

Here is a picture of the Killiney Kopitiam at 67 Killiney Road menu. Toasted bread, soft-boiled eggs and coffee are the staples. Supplemented by a few other dishes such as curry chicken, mee siam and laksa. A few desserts like grass jelly and gingko beancurd completed the simple menu.

Mee Rebus, Kaya Toast and Coffee

These are pictures of what we ordered on this visit – mee rebus ($5.40), kaya toast ($3.60) and coffee ($2.10 each).

We thought that the bread toast would be better if it was more toasted. Many parts of it were barely toasted and did not have an adequately crisp surface.

Mee rebus was the best item of the day. It was a substantive portion and adequate for a light lunch. Lots of bean sprouts and the thick gravy made it a delicious dish which we would be happy to order again. By the way, it is quite spicy even without any chilli added so those who do not like spicy food might want to try something else. We had high expectations for the coffee but it was quite ordinary on this visit.
