The Salzburg fortress dinner and concert was one of the events that we attended during our recent trip to Austria. Was it worth attending or was it a tourist trap? That was a question on our minds before we made a reservation for the fortress visit, dinner and concert. Fortress Hohensalzburg, one of the largest existing fortress complexes in Europe, sits on top of a hill overlooking Salzburg, the city of Mozart. The dinner is held at the Panorama Restaurant, followed by a concert in one of the rooms at the top of the fortress.
Bismillah Biryani Restaurant in Little India is an eatery that is included in the Singapore Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand list. Occupying 2 old shophouses along Dunlop Street, the restaurant has become an experiential travel destination of sorts. Tourists eat there so that they can say they have an authentic experience of local cuisine and culture. Bismillah Biryani Restaurant is certainly quite an interesting restaurant in a colourful location and it does serve pretty good Biryani Rice and Kebabs.
The variety and sheer number of dim sum restaurants in Singapore is a good indication of the depth and diversity of Singapore foodscape. Dim sum in Singapore can be enjoyed in a luxurious Michelin-starred restaurant like Summer Pavilion, a hip creative restaurant like Janice Wong or in one of the many food courts and HDB kopitiams. For a uniquely Singapore dim sum experience, a visit to Swee Choon Tim Sum is probably one of the best options.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s opening sequence is perhaps one of the most enduring images in film history. Audrey Hepburn in a stunning black ball gown with matching gloves standing in front of the store window of Tiffany & Co. and enjoying a breakfast of pastry and coffee, with the idyllic music of Moon River playing in the background. We can’t actually have breakfast at Tiffany’s but in Singapore we can have breakfast at Killiney – and the famous coffee shop at Killiney Road is an icon in its own right with a heritage that dates back decades before the release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
