Our late night breakfast at Star Vista

Star Vista at Night1

It was 9 plus in the evening by the time we reached Star Vista. Although many restaurants were still technically open, you can see that some were already in the in-the-process-of-closing mode. One place that looked like it still had the hustle and bustle of business was Cedele. So we decided to eat there.

Star Vista is quite a peaceful place at night. We noticed that quite a lot of people still linger on and the amphitheatre space is well utilised. We have been to Cedele before but not this late so we selected a couple of items which we thought would be quick and easy to prepare – a “Full Works” ($15.50) from their whole day breakfast menu and a Grilled Chicken Pesto in flat thin bread ($9.50). Here are random sections from their menu in case you are interested to see what else they serve here.

The Full Works plate has literally all the usual goodies you would want for breakfast – two eggs cooked in accordance with your preference, two slices of bread, a sausage, quite a bit of bacon and some salad.  The eggs were well cooked with just the right amount of ‘runniness’.  Cedele is known for their breads and so it was no surprise that the bread was tasty and lightly toasted. It was in the most part a satisfying breakfast dish.  The only areas which we thought did not meet the high standards we had come to expect from Cedele were the bacon and the presentation. The bacon which was too well cooked and became too charred and hard. The presentation of the dish was also a bit too casual, with the jam and butter being tucked among the salad.

The other dish was grilled chicken cubes with pesto sauce served with melted cheese in thin flat bread. Fortunately we had correctly anticipated that the Full Works was too much for one person. The pesto chicken dish was less heavy and was, together with the Full Works, enough for two. The predominant taste was the cheese with the pesto in the background. The flat bread was thin and flakey. Not bad for a light snack but the overall taste was quite average.

It was a meal of hits and misses. Although we could not really put a finger on anything which was really bad, it could prehaps be because our previous experiences with Cedele had always been good, such that average was a bit of a disappointment.
