HillV2 may be a small shopping mall in the Hillview area. But I like it because it is the only mall in this part of Upper Bukit Timah and most of its tenants are f & b outlets. It is a very quiet and serene place on weekdays which means better dining deals during such off-peak hours. Recently, I tried the weekday set lunch at Wine Connection HillV2.

Wine Connection is probably a name known to many in Singapore as they have outlets all over the island, whether as a stand-alone wine shop or as a restaurant or both. At HillV2, they exist both as a wine retail shop and restaurant. You can see more pictures of both in our post about HillV2 here.

The set lunch at Wine Connection is a two-course meal plus coffee or tea. There are two options – the $15 lunch or the $18 lunch. Both comes with a choice of a main course plus a salad or soup or dessert. The difference lies in the type of main course . The lower priced lunch provides a choice of pizza and pasta items whereas meat dishes feature in the main course choices for the $18 lunch. I opted for the $15 lunch.

My first course was a crab bisque soup. It was slightly watery but had enough of the crab taste to be a decent crab bisque.

For main course I selected the Spanish chorizo pizza. This was a very thin crust pizza. It had generous amounts of cheese. My only complaint is that they were not as generous with the chorizo. They were treated like precious commodities – so thinly sliced and so few. Two pieces of chorizo per pizza slice would be a better ratio, otherwise most of time you are eating plain cheese pizza. The chorizo did taste good – imparting a smoky, meaty taste to the pizza.

Overall, the set lunch at Wine Connection was quite a substantial meal for $15. The pizza might be thin, but the slices do add up. In the end, there was more pizza than I could single-handedly consume.
