There are no witches or wizards in Patties & Wiches. It is a new casual restaurant in Ngee City selling mostly burgers and sandwiches, hence its name. Shoppers fighting the crowds at the Takashimaya sale can now rest their tired feet at this cafe on the third level. It is a pleasant space just next to the escalators on the Wisma Atria end of Ngee Ann City.
The restaurant has no walls or doors. This open concept space makes Patties & Wiches very bright and accessible. A few over-sized lamps give the place a whimsical feel. Here are pictures of their menu. In line with the name of the restaurant, we ordered a Pattie and a Wich – a mushroom cheese burger ($25) and a P&W egg sandwich ($15).
The burger looked and tasted good but not exceptional. The beef patty was flavourful and the thick mushroom sauce enhanced the taste.
The egg sandwich contained mashed eggs in a creamy mayo sauce. The taste was good but the filling was cold. The bread slices were toasted but had cooled down and became soft by the time it was served. Perhaps service was delayed so that the two items could be served at the same time. The Wich was not as good as the Pattie on that day.
Patties and Wiches also has an interestingly selection of cakes. The display was really tempting but we managed to resist them for the time being. Overall, we were not impressed by the food at this new cafe on that day.
We would visit the restaurant again. But the main attraction for us to revisit Patties & Wiches is the attractive environment to meet a friend or to take a pit stop during shopping at Takashimaya and the other Ngee Ann City shops. We may also to try out the beautiful cakes at the next visit.
