Pizza Express Scotts Square is the latest restaurant to open up in this upmarket mall off Orchard Road Singapore. According to their website, this pizza restaurant chain that originated in Great Britain has 500 outlets, with 100 of them outside the UK. In Singapore, they have opened their first one in the basement of Scotts Square. They now occupy a combined space that merged the previous location of Maison Kayser* and the Dome Cafe.
The Pizza Express Singapore branch at Scotts Square takes up quite a large space. Most of the tables are out in the open atrium. There is a small monochrome-toned inner space which could be a good place to hold pizza parties.
Here are some pictures of a part of the Pizza Express menu. While pizzas are the main event, there are some other items such as salads and pasta for those who prefer something else.
The pizzas come in two main sizes – the “classic” is about 12 inches in diameter. The “Romana” pizzas are larger – about 15 inches. These are unscientific estimates based on what we could see at the next tables. We decided to try the only one that was made in a rectangle shape – described in the menu as the “hero pizza” of the restaurant – the Calabrese Pizza ($26).
The Calabrese Pizza at Pizza Express was quite an attractive specimen. It was a very thin crust pizza with Italian sausages, rocket and chunks of mozzarella cheese. The main ingredients that made this pizza memorable for us were the red chillies and jalapeno. These spiced up the pizza nicely.
