Sun Ray Cafe is a neighbourhood cafe in Serangoon Garden which is pet friendly. What makes it different is that it also has a menu for your pets. There is no way for us to tell if the food for the pets is any good. The food for humans is not bad.
Located in two adjacent shop housees in Brighton Crescent, Sun Ray Cafe has a homely feel. The furniture in bright colours add vibrancy to the place. There are two separate entrances although the two shop houses are connected. We believe the dining area in one of the shop houses is mainly for diners with pets. The other smaller dining space is for those eating without accompanying pets.
Here is a picture of the menu for pets.
Below are pictures a random sections of the regular menu.
We went to Sun Ray Cafe for dinner and ordered a Wagyu Burger ($26) and their Rosemary Chicken ($16). No GST or service charge would be added to the bill. Iced water was served.
The wait for the food was about 20 minutes. When the food arrived, we could see that effort had been put in to decorate the plates and to present the food attractively.
The burger had lots of ingredients and was well stacked up. There were pineapple, cheese, coleslaw, egg and many other items. The patty was of a generous size and loaded with rich meaty flavour. On the whole, an enjoyable burger. The thick fries that came with the burger were nice too.
The Rosemary Chicken was also well done. There was some crispy skin on the chicken thigh and the chicken was juicy, tender and flavourful. The herbs and the sweetish vinegar reduction made the dish even more interesting. It was a hearty and satisfying dish.
Pet friendly eating establishments can be hard to find. Eateries which will also serve food to your pets are even rarer. When you find such a pet friendly cafe, it must be a real bonus if the food for humans are good as well. We are thus not surprised that Sun Ray Cafe in Serangoon Garden is popular with pet owners. However, it is also kids friendly and thus popular with family too. Even if you do not have pets or kids, Sun Ray Cafe is still a good destination if you want some hearty good food in a cosy neighbourhood cafe.
