Brunch at Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro

The Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro is a crowded place on weekends. It is situated in the Tanglin Post Office Building, across the road from Tanglin Mall. Fortunately we had a reservation as the place was almost full, even the tables along the driveway outside were taken.

Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro seemed like a well-balanced place with an equal emphasis on food and drinks. There was a good selection of both. Other than the central communal dining counter, all the tables were occupied or displaying a “reserved” sign.  With the tables packed close together, it was not a tranquil place.  It was hard to get the attention of the staff and although they were efficient, service was abrupt.

Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Menu

The food served at Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro is casual Western cuisine. An attractive feature about this bistro is their early opening hours. There is an extensive all day breakfast dining from 8 am to 4 pm.  Here are pictures of the Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro menus for breakfast and lunch. They also have some attractive happy hour, ladies night and early bird deals.

We tried a soup of the day – tomato soup ($6). It was well made, smooth and creamy and slightly tart. This would be a good soup after a late night.

The chicken quesadilla ($14) contained a pleasant mix of chicken, cheese and caramelised onions.

The skillet eggs shakshouka ($19) was a lovely pan of poached eggs, chorizo in slightly spicy tomato gravy. The bread, baked in-house, was very good. Dipping the bread into the mix of runny egg and tomato gravy is the kind of brunch food that we won’t get tired of.

Finally we tried the wholemeal Belgian waffles with ham ($17). The use of wholemeal in the making of this waffles gave it more weight and texture. The mix of sweet syrup, savoury ham with the waffles was a surprisingly good combination. Another classic brunch item that went perfectly with a cup of coffee ($5 black, $6 white).

Overall, we can understand why Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Menu is still drawing in the crowds after all these years. The brunch food that we tried that day was very good.  If only the tables were not packed so close to each other and the staff more friendly.
