Katong is a food paradise. With the opening of Project Acai East, we can now even enjoy sweet indulgence in Katong without feeling overly guilty. Project Acai East Katong is a new acai and smoothie bar which serves smoothies and organic acai bowls topped with fruits and other super foods. The acai bowls look great and taste good. Best of all, acai berries are known to bring a host of health benefits.
Project Acai East Katong
Project Acai East Katong is located on the ground level of Tides, a commercial building along East Coast Road, just opposite the well known Chin Mee Chin Confectionery. The newly opened acai bar and cafe is very nicely fitted out. A terrace with planters and modern swing interior doors looks cool and inviting. A stylish wooden main door opens up into a minimalist industrial interior. It is spacious with a big communal table in the centre and several small tables lined up against one of the walls.
Project Acai Katong Menu
The menu is simple. There are acia bowls in handy size, medium and large. The are acai smoothies. The only hot food item available is tortilla chips with a cheese, tomato and spinach dip. There are cold brew coffee and tea. Currently, exclusive to the outlet is the Nitro Cold Brew Coffee. Hot beverages are not available.
There are packed items which you can buy to make your own treats at home.
Acai Bowls & Cold Brew Coffee
At Project Acai East in Katong, you order and pay at the counter. You collect your items when the buzzer prompts you and help yourself to the disposal utensils.
We ordered an Acai Sundae Bowl ($12), an Original Flower Bowl Handy Size ($6.80) and Nitro Cold Brew Coffee ($6.70). There is no GST or service charge.
The Acai Sundae Bowl comes only in one size. It is a bowlful of goodness. The blended acai base and chia seed pudding were topped with goji, banana and strawberry and drizzled with cashew nut butter. There were cookie bits mixed in to add texture. The acai base looked like thick chocolate paste and tasted liked a cross of blueberries and dark chocolate. Those who enjoy chocolate sundae will love the Acai Sundae Bowl.
The Signature Original Flower Bowl looked beautiful. The blended acai base was topped with fruits, coconut shavings and superfoods like bee pollen, cacao nips and chia seeds. It was delicious.
The Nitro Cold Brew Coffee was refreshing. It was smooth with low acidity and pleasant on the palate. As it was served without ice, the coffee would not be diluted by melting ice cubes; so the taste would remain the same the whole time.
Project Acai has popular outlets in Holland Village and Ngee Ann City. With the opening of Project Acai East in Katong, those in the East get a very comfortable spacious cafe to enjoy delicious acai bowls which contain healthy fats and fibre, low amounts of sugar and high concentration of antioxidants. Nutritious food that looks great and tastes good – that is bliss in food paradise.
