Taste Paradise Ion Chinese Restaurant – the best Paradise

Taste Paradise is one of two Paradise restaurants at Ion Orchard. The other one is Paradise Dynasty. To add to the potential for confusion, they are both situated on the fourth floor, so diners need to be clear where they want to go. For us the answer is clear – the Taste Paradise Ion is the restaurant we like more.

The dining area of Taste Paradise Ion has two distinct sections. The dimly lit central area has a traditional Chinese restaurant look and the peripheral area along the windows that is bright and furnished as a contemporary Chinese restaurant. Our preference is clearly the bright area. This is probably the plushiest Paradise restaurant that we have been to.

The crackling pork belly ($13.80) was very good. The skin was very crisp and light. It was also an attractively presented dish.

The XO carrot cake ($9.80) was another good dish which we will want to order on the next visit.

We ordered a range of steamed dim sum items. They were generally good, but not as memorable as the first two items. The xiao long bao had fillings which had a porky flavour which we did not like.

The eggplant tossed with pork floss ($9.80) was a less common dish. We thought it was quite well done.  Overall, the food at Taste Paradise Ion was mainly good.  What impressed us was that overall dining experience (including the decor of the restaurant and the service) was a notch above what we had experienced in other Paradise outlets that we had been to.
