FOC Pim Pam Spanish Restaurant, revisited 2018

It has been a while since we last visited FOC Pim Pam, the Orchard Road outlet of Spanish restaurant FOC located at Hong Kong Street.  We had visited them for lunch when they first opened in 2016. You can read about first visit to FOC Pim Pam here. This time we were there for dinner and noticed that quite a few changes had been made to the place.

The restaurant is made up of three parts. There is an outdoor (sheltered) area along the road. The indoor area has a casual section (picture above) and a more serious looking restaurant area (below). The two sections are now more clearly demarcated than before.

The nicest area is still the bar area where the big head giant dolls project a lighter mood to the atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, we thought that there was a big difference between dining at night and in the day. The place looks bright and sunny in the day and broody in the night, thanks to the use of dim lighting in the restaurant area.

FOC Pim Pam Menu

Here are pictures of some portions from the FOC Pim Pam Menu. We ordered some tapas and two main courses.

Tapas

The above picture shows all the tapas together. The food was prepared very quickly.  We should stagger our ordering in the future to avoid all the food arriving at the same time. The open tortilla with cheese foam ($14) was a nice omelette. It was first presented on a skillet and then folded up.

Grilled padron peppers is a dish we seem to order at almost every visit to a Spanish restaurant. The ones served at FOC Pim Pam were very good. Well grilled but still remaining fat and juicy.

The patatas bravas ($10) looked attractive but the taste was not exceptional.   I do not have a separate picture of the croquetas but they were very good. They come in four flavours; we had the ham and the mushroom.

Main Courses

For the main courses we had the Iberico pork ribs ($30) and the Angus Ribeye ($32). Both these dishes were very good. The ribs had a good taste and texture. They were crisp on the surface and soft inside. My only complaint would be that the portion was rather small.

The ribeye was equally delicious. It was also a good thing that there were very little chewy bits that usually come with ribeye cuts.

Overall, dinner at FOC Pim Pam was enjoyable.  Service was professional and efficient but rather cold. The outdoor area looks like a nice place to hang out for happy hours.
