When Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle can be found from Marine Terrace and Bugis to Bukit Panjang and West Coast and there are stalls with confusingly similar names, the original stall must be or have been very popular. The much sought-after Tanjong Rhu wanton noodles were originally sold in a coffee shop in Block 7 Jalan Batu; the same coffee shop where the famous Tanjong Rhu Pau stall is still located. The Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodles stall is now in the Jalan Batu Market & Food Centre. It now has branches in many parts of Singapore and you can even order it online.

Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle 丹戎禺云吞面
We visited Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle at Stall #01-35. It sells wanton noodle and dumpling noodle. There is no choice of noodles – only mee kia – but there are options when it comes to the sauces. The prices range from $3 to $4.
Wanton Noodle & Dumpling Noodle
We ordered a Wanton Noodle Dry with Chilli ($3 regular or $4 big) and a Dumpling Noodle Dry with Black Chilli ($3.50).
The portions were quite generous. The noodles were very good – thin and cooked just right to have that springiness which we liked.
Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle Dry
The Wanton Noodle came with a bowl of soup with small boiled wantons that had smooth, thin skins. The noodles were topped with some vegetables, crispy deep-fried wantons and thin slices of lean char siew. The chili was quite spicy. It was a very enjoyable bowl of noodles.
Dumpling Noodle Dry
The Dumpling Noodle was served with 3 large dumplings in a bowl of soup. The noodles were topped with greens. The black chilli sauce was a combination of chilli sauce and black soy sauce. It had quite a kick. The dumplings with minced meat and prawns had chunky and crunchy bits. We liked the texture and the taste.
