5 Senses Bistro Star Vista - $11.90 affordable set lunch

5 Senses Bistro Star Vista is one of the newer restaurants at this shopping mall cum concert venue in Buona Vista. It is run by a group of young entrepreneurs that love exploring new cooking techniques and ingredients. We were there recently to try their $11.90 set lunch.

According to their Facebook Page, “5 Senses Bistro concept is to create affordable comfort food not only using the freshest ingredients but also every dish represents our chefs individually“. We had arrived at the restaurant with high expectations. The pictures on their website are beautiful. Their other statements are equally lofty: “5 Senses food creates and leaves an impression on our customer’s 5 Senses from visual to smell; hence the name”. There is a group photo of the 5 Senses crew and they all look young. If they can pull off what they set out to do, it would be impressive indeed!

Here are pictures of the 5 Senses Bistro Star Vista Menu for set lunch. You can find a full menu online on the Chope reservation link below. There are various choices for the $11.90 lunch set. We decided on the Cheesy Pulled Pork Burger and the Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breast.

5 Senses Bistro Star Vista set lunch menu

The set lunch at 5 Senses started with the drink and pieces of apple.

This is the Cheesy Burger with the top bun removed. It certainly looks attractive. In terms of taste it was good, but the pork content was very low. We could taste the gravy but the pulled pork was more elusive. Fortunately, the chicken breast dish was quite substantial and we transferred some of the meat over to improvise and create our own chicken burger with pulled pork gravy.

The bacon wrapped chicken breast looked and tasted like a more expensive dish than a main course of a $11.90 set lunch. It was very good. I think this dish lived up to the 5 Senses Bistro’s promise to “leave an impression on our customer’s 5 Senses from visual to smell”. The chicken was nicely cooked and moist. The bacon’s presence was subtle and blended very well with the chicken and sauce. It was also a generous portion. Enough for some slices to be contributed to the burger to beef it up.
