Lunch at a top Greek Restaurant in Singapore

Blu Kouzina at Dempsey Hill is often a name that pops up when discussing which are the top Greek restaurants in Singapore. It is a restaurant we have been quite a few times. What we are most impressed by them is the consistency of the food. Whether lunch or dinner, we have not been disappointed. They have recently expanded their premises and have spilled over to the unit next door. We stopped by to see if anything has changed.

We were there for lunch. Only the old section was opened for business that day and so (unfortunately for us) we did not get to see the new dining area. If there is one thing we would like to change it would be the lighting at this main dining area. It is just too dim for a Greek restaurant, especially in sunny Singapore.

The Menu

Here are pictures of the Blu Kouzina menu 2020. It looks similar to what we have seen before. We predictably chose the usual Greek classic dishes that make this one of the top Greek restaurants in Singapore.

The Food

We were told that our food items might take some time and so we ordered some fries to munch on as we waited. The fries were no different from regular fries, except that some herbs had been added making it more fragrant than usual.

The grilled octopus ($39.80, picture below) was as good as we remember it to be. The portion also seemed to be larger than before.

Another dish that we always order at Blu Kouzina is the mousaka ($30.80, picture below). It is quite pricey and the presentation is plain, but we think that this is the best mousaka in Singapore. The mashed potato, bechamel sauce, eggplant and minced beef taste very good and are present in nice proportions.

The carnivores in us love the meat platter. We had the small platter that cost $55.80. It contains 2 lamb meatballs, 1 beef kalamaki, 2 lamb chops and 1 organic chicken skewer. The chicken skewer was quite plain but the rest were exquisite. The lamb chops were moist and juicy and had no gamey flavours. The meatballs and the beef kalamaki look very ordinary but herbs had been used to make them taste uniquely Greek and memorable.

Top Greek Restaurant in Singapore

Overall, the food at Blu Kouzina were very plainly presented. We don’t think any of our pictures will get many likes on IG. But what make this a TOP Greek Restaurant in Singapore are the use of quality ingredients and methods of cooking that are make them distinctly Greek. Which is why we tend to go back to them so often.
