Food Related Songs to commemorate Leap Day 29 Feb 2020

Today is a Leap Day – 29 February 2020. To commemorate Leap Day 2016, we did something light-hearted – we had a list of favourite songs about food. This Leap Day we will have the 2020 list of food related songs, however tenuous the connections may be. Let’s see if our taste for songs, or food, has changed over four years. Here is the TOP List of Food Related Songs Leap Day 2020 Edition.

Sugar

Your sugar
Yes, please

Won’t you come and put it down on me
I’m right here, ’cause I need
Little love and little sympathy

Chocolate

Hey now call it a split ’cause you know that you will

Oh you bite your friend like chocolate

Strawberry Swing

Cold, cold water, bring me around
Now my feet won’t touch the ground
Cold, cold water, whatcha say
It’s such, it’s such a perfect day
It’s such a perfect day

I remember
We were walking up to strawberry swing
I can’t wait ’til the morning
Wouldn’t want to change a thing

I Want Candy

I know a girl who’s tough but sweet
She’s so fine, she can’t be beat
She’s got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire

I want candy

The Ketchup Song (Asereje)

The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) is the debut single by Spanish pop group Las Ketchup. The Muñoz sisters called themselves Las Ketchup as a tribute to their father, a flamenco guitarist known as El Tomate or Tomato.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Let me take you down
‘Cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real
And nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Scarborough Fair

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
For once she was a true love of mine

That’s Amore

In Napoli where love is king
When boy meets girl here’s what they say

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
That’s amore

When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine
That’s amore

豆漿油條 Doujiang Youtiao

We have to include a song by Singaporean JJ Lin with a tittle 豆漿油條 – Doujiang Youtiao or Tau Huay You Cha Kueh.

Fried Rice Paradise

How can a Singapore food blog not mention Fried Rice Paradise? Dick Lee’s composition rounds up our TOP List of Food Related Songs.

Fried Rice Paradise
Nasi Goreng, very nice
That’s her speciality
Ninety-nine varieties

Fried Rice Paradise
“Shiok” is how it’s been described
Booked a table? Very wise
