Dabao from Mark Lee’s 13 Stages

Versatile local comedian Mark Lee 李国煌 is still acting, hosting and entertaining but he also has interests in varied businesses – from movie production and artiste management to hair salon and F&B. His restaurant in Kallang Wave Mall, 13 Stages, started as an eatery featuring 7 different flavours of chicken rice and 13 flavours of coffee. It now offers a varied menu, with seafood rice, hor fun, mala noodles, fried rice and even bubble tea among the items available. 13 Stages has another outlet in Tanjong Pagar Plaza (which is currently temporarily closed). Dabao and delivery services are now available.

We have written about our visits to 13 Stages in Kallang Wave Mall previously (see our post 13 Stages – 7 Flavours of Chicken & 13 Flavours of Kopi). During the Circuit Breaker period, we went to dabao from 13 Stages. For a simple takeaway meal, we selected Imperial Ginger Chicken Rice ($9.90) and Chicken Floss Fried Rice ($8.90).

Those who like to eat chicken rice with ginger sauce will like 13 Stages’ Imperial Ginger Chicken Rice. The large piece of chicken thigh was slathered with pureed ginger. The chicken meat was smooth and succulent and well infused with the flavours of ginger and spices. The rice had the nice taste of chicken rice from good chicken rice stalls but was not greasy. It was a very enjoyable dish.

The Chicken Floss Fried Rice came with quite a lot of fresh greens. The fried rice, with eggs, corns and shrimps, was topped with a layer of sweet savoury chicken floss. It was a simple dish that was agreeable to the palate.

We were happy with our simple takeaway meal from 13 Stages. The food was delectable. The portion size was quite generous. We are likely to dabao from 13 Stages again or make a delivery order. The menu is not extensive but it offers sufficient variety. The prices are very reasonable. Mark Lee’s restaurant is a place where we can still get a good affordable meal – even when “Money No Enough 钱不够用”.
