Unfortunately the discounts are not available for the bento and sharing sets. However, the bento ($13.80) and sharing sets for two ($30) are quite good value even without the discounts.

Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant Takeaway Sets

The Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant Takeaway Menu (link below) is not extensive. There are 3 bento sets, 2 sharing sets and 7 Signature Dishes. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork Bento Set and the Crispy Deep Ocean Prawn with Creamy Butternut Sauce Bento Set ($13.80 each).

The food was ready for pick up within 20 minutes. The packaging was eco friendly – from the simple brown paper bag to the biodegradable bento boxes.

Both the bento sets included Tofu With Luffa Melon and Poached Egg White, Fried Baby Cabbage with Garlic and Egg Fried Rice.

The Prawn with Creamy Butternut Sauce was a rather usual item on the menu of Chinese restaurants. The prawns were plumb and succulent. The creamy butternut sauce was luxuriously silky and tasted sweet and nutty. It was a nice change from the more common salted egg sauce prawns or wasabi prawns.

The sweet and sour pork was a more standard dish but it was well done. The meat was tender and the sauce had a good balance of sweetness and tartness.

All the side sides were nice and tasty. The beancurd with luffa gourd and egg white was just lovely comfort food. The egg white could pass off a crab meat.

Tasty well balanced meal

We think Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant Takeaway bento sets are good simple meals. Each set has a good mix of carbohydrates, protein and vegetables – a well balanced meal which is tasty and helps you to stay well-nourished. When you want to avoid cooking a meal at home, takeaway or delivery from Jia Wei can be a good affordable alternative.
