5 ON 25 Cantonese Restaurant
The new Chinese restaurant is named after the five taste senses and its setting on Andaz hotel’s 25th floor. It can seat 70 diners in the main dining room, and has two private dining suites. The interior design is modern and elegant while paying homage to the classic Chinese supper club.
Menu of 5 ON 25
Opened in early 2022, 5 ON 25 has a tea menu curated by Tea sommelier Li Guan Yi featuring a selection of rare and unusual leaves. The Cantonese menu is created by head chef Lim Hong Lih, who had many years of expereince in the kitchens of distinguished Chinese restaurants Li Bai and Summer Pavilion. Chef Lim reworks classic Cantonese dishes by giving familiar ingredients an unexpected twist. 5 ON 25 also has a dim sum menu offering delicate classics of steamed dumplings and fried delicacies.
Below are a few random pages of the menu of 5 ON 25.
3 Course Meal
We had a simple 3 course meal at 5 ON 25 comprising Claypot chicken with hua tiao wine 花雕滑鸡煲 ($26), Sri Lankan crabmeat fried rice 鲜蟹肉蛋白瑶柱炒饭 ($30) and Ginger milk pudding with honeycomb 蜂蜜姜汁撞奶布丁 ($12). Chinese tea was $8 per person.
The Claypot Chicken with Chinese Rice Wine was an excellent dish. The bite-size pieces of chicken were well coated with a delicious sweet savoury sauce. The meat was very tender. We liked the fragrance of the flavourful dish, which could be enjoyed on its own and would also go well with rice.
The Sri Lankan crabmeat fried rice was prepared with lots of various ingredients including a generous amount of dried scallop and egg white. The portion was quite substantial and there was a decent amount of crabmeat. The fried rice dish had a smokey aroma and was enjoyable.
The ginger milk pudding, made with ginger juice, milk and honeycomb, was a delightful dessert. It tasted as good as it looked. The classic Cantonese dessert had interesting flavour and silky texture. It was neither too spicy nor too sweet. It was one of those desserts that pleased the palate and soothed the soul.
Great View & Good Food
5 ON 25 has a winning combination with its chic interior design, great views, friendly service and good food. We will like to go back to try other dishes on the menu and their dim sum too.
