Blu Kouzina Siglap – New Greek Restaurant in the East

Blu Kouzina Siglap is the new outlet of the popular Greek restaurant at Dempsey Hill Singapore. With this second outlet, folks in the east of Singapore such as Katong and Bedok have easy access to one of the best Greek restaurants in Singapore.

Blu Kouzina Springvale Centre at East Coast Road

Blu Kouzina Siglap is located in a small low-rise building known as Springdale Centre along East Coast Road. Retail outlets and restaurants occupy the ground floor of this building. The higher levels are taken up by apartments with built up areas ranging between 927 to 1325 sq ft. There are some parking lots within the complex.

Blu Kouzina Siglap - New Greek Restaurant in Katong

Like the main restaurant in Dempsey, Blu Kouzina Siglap has a distinctly Greek decor with blue and white colours aplenty. Being a corner shop unit, the full length windows let in lots of sunshine, giving it an authentic Greek restaurant feel.

More specifically, you want a Santorini restaurant feel, reserve the small private dining room at the corner of the restaurant. This space can accommodate about 4 pax and has a very cosy feel.

Blu Kouzina Siglap Menu

Here are pictures of some portions of the Blu Kouzina Siglap menu. We ordered some of our usual favourites at Blu Kouzina – beef moussaka ($32.80), grilled pita bread ($3.90 each) and 3 dip platter ($38.80), We also tried two other items – kebab platter ($68.80 for medium platter) and dessert.

Pita and Dips

We picked three types of dips for our 3-dip platter. In order of best to less good, they were : red pepper, smoked eggplant and hummus. The red peppers were cooked till very soft and sweet. Combined with various seasoning and herbs, the red pepper dip was like a highly complex jam that spread easily on the pita. The smoked eggplant was almost as good – except that the sweetness was replaced by a more sophisticated smokiness. By comparison, the chick pea flavours in the more common hummus was quite plain, not because it was not good but simply because of the brilliance of the others.

Moussaka

Blu Kouzina Siglap moussaka

Moussaka is a dish we always order at Blu Kouzina and we did so at their new Siglap outlet. The presentation seems to have improved for the better. The combination of mashed potatoes, baked eggplant, minced beef and béchamel sauce was as good as we remember it to be.

Kebabs

We underestimated the size of the kebabs and ordered the medium sized platter which had 6 skewers. The small (3 sticks) would have been enough. Each stick of ground chicken, beef and lamb was large and heavy. They were not bad but not as memorable as the dishes described before.

Dessert

For dessert we decided to try the baklava. Unlike the Turkish version, the phyllo pastry filled with walnuts and topped with homemade syrup was served in a tubular form that looked like spring rolls. They were denser that we expected but was nevertheless a pleasant dessert to bring our lunch at the new Blu Kouzina Siglap Greek restaurant to a sweet end.
