Buddy Hoagies Cafe & Grill, which offers Western grills at affordable prices, has a new outlet at Rendezvous Hotel. It currently has an irresistible weekday lunch deal priced from $10.90.
Buddy Hoagies Rendezvous
The homegrown restaurant chain offering affordable and quality Western cuisine has over the years set up outlets in suburban and heartland malls – such as Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Waterpoint, Djitsun Mall and Eastpoint Mall. In mid 2022 Buddy Hoagies Cafe & Grill opened its first downtown outlet in Rendezvous Hotel Bras Basah Road (where the famous nasi padang restaurant Rendezvous Restaurant Hock Lock Kee was originally located).
Buddy Hoagies Rendezvous is a casual diner with a look that is a cross between Hard Rock Cafe and Mcdonald’s. It is colourful and has interesting posters and memorabilia on its walls. There is a relaxed atmosphere.
Affordable Set Meals
The menu is quite extensive. There are chicken, fish, steaks, pork and lamb prepared in a variety of styles. Pasta, pizza, sandwiches, baked rice and rosti are also available. Desserts will include Lava Souffle and Brownie & Ice Cream. The selection of beverages includes coffee, floats, beer and wine.
The online menu is on the Buddy Hoafies’ Website. A few random pages of the menu are below.
When you order a main you can pay $4.50 more to make it a set meal – which will include soup and a beverage.
Currently, there is a weekday lunch deal (available from 11 am to 4 pm) where you order any main (starting from $10.90) and you will be given the set meal without additional charge.
Affordable Meal
We ordered the Flamed Grilled Chicken ($10.90) with a $4.50 add on for the set meal (with mushroom soup and coffee). We also ordered the Fish & Chips ($11.50) and Rosti Bacon & BBQ Sausage ($12.90).
The mushroom soup and garlic bread were about what we expected – not bad at all.
The Flamed Grilled Chicken order allowed us to pick two sides. We opted for fries and coleslaw. The thin fries were nicely done – crispy with soft inside, and not oily. The grilled chicken looked tasty and it was. It was well-seasoned and had the unique flavour from the grilling process.
We had boiled vegetables as the sides for the Fish & Chips. The breaded dory fillet was fairly standard fare. It did not disappoint tastewise.
We really liked the Rosti Bacon & BBQ Sausage, and not just because we would usually love anything with crispy bacon and smokey sausages. The Rosti, a Swiss dish of potatoes fried in a pan, was good. The golden-brown crust was very crispy and the yellow insides were soft and fluffy. It was delicious on its own and made even more enjoyable with the brown sauce.
Variety & Affordability
Buddy Hoagies at Rendezvous Hotel is in a prime location that is easily accessible. It offers variety and affordability in a casual and comfortable setting with friendly service – ticks all the boxes for a great dining-out spot when we want Western fare at pocket-friendly prices.
