Antea Social – a contemporary teahouse @ Tyrwhitt

Tea drinking is associated with simplicity, tranquility and relaxation. Antea Social is a contemporary teahouse that encourages you to slow down, relax and embrace the present as you sip on teas from the Orient.

Choosing to spend time alone or limit social interactions may be considered anti-social but sometimes that is a good thing. Antea Social @ Tyrwhitt is a place where you can be “anti-social” – a place to sip tea alone away from the noise and distractions of daily life. The contemporary teahouse is also a great place for social interactions as it has a relaxed, tranquil and welcoming atmosphere that encourages quiet conversation and connection.

Antea Social is designed to create a sense of calm and relaxation with neutral colors, and Japanese-style plant arrangement which brings a touch of nature into the space.

There is a variety of seating arrangements. Most of the tables are for solo guests or a couple.

Menu of Antea Social

The menu of a teahouse is naturally dominated by teas. Antea Social also offers tea-infused cocktails and mocktails. There is also a limited range of cakes and snacks to go with tea. Savoury onigiri (rice shaped into a triangular form, and typically wrapped in dried seaweed), is an unexpected item on Antea Social’s menu.

Below are pictures of a few pages of the menu of Antea Social.

A Teahouse Experience

We picked from various sections of the menu for our teahouse experience. For snacks, we ordered Roasted Cashews ($3.50) and Valrhona Chocolate Cookie ($4.50). We chose Tobiko Tuna Mayo Onigiri ($6.50) and Umi Shiso Onigiri ($4.50) for light bites. As for the main offering of Antea Social, we opted for Tisane Baby Chrysanthemums ($7) and Lychee Oolong ($8).

Light Bites

The Ume Shiso Onigiri had a combination of tangy and savoury flavours from the pickled plum and shiso (perilla) leaves. It was simple and satisfying.

The Tobiko Tuna Mayo Onigiri was slightly more indulgent. It was filled with a creamy mixture of tuna and mayonnaise. The tobiko (flying fish roe) added a slightly briny flavour. The texture of the rice and the crisp nori wrapper brought everything together to deliver a delicious onigiri.

Antea Social’s onigiri could be good enough for lunch for a small eater.

Made with quality Valrhona chocolate, Antea Social’s Valrhona Chocolate Cookie was a chocolate lover’s dream come true. The exterior was slightly crunchy, while the interior was soft and chewy. The chocolate flavour was rich and decadent.

Teas

The teas at Antea Social was presented ritually with instructions on how best to enjoy your tea.

The complex taste of premium oolong tea was well blended the natural taste of lychee fruit. It was a tea that delighted the senses.

The baby chrysanthemum tea had a refreshing floral taste and a very pleasing aroma.

We also had Iced Ginger Lily Oolong Tea. It tasted like regular oolong tea but with subtle sweet ginger notes. It was very refreshing.

Antea Social for Community and Solitude

Antea Social is a delightful place for good tea, whether you are a social creature or anti-social. It is great for a time of tea and solitude – self-reflection, recharge or just respite from the busy routine. It is also good for community time – a place to enjoy light bites with refreshing tea and to connect with intimate sharing and whispered conversation.
