Siglap, a charming laid back neighbourhood in the East, has welcomed a new resident: Anatta Restaurant. Located within The Domian building on East Coast Road, this new restaurant offers a dining experience that prioritises fresh, high-quality ingredients and celebrates wholesome food.
New Anatta Restaurant
Anatta Culinary Academy is a cooking school that also provides services such as chef consultancy, market tours and themed parties. The academy at Neil Road is co-located with Anatta Bakery & Specialty Grocer, which offers freshly baked breads and pastries, along with specially curated products that contain no preservatives, no additives, and no added chemicals. Anatta Restaurant in East Coast is their new outlet. It is a bakery & grocer and a full service restaurant.
The new restaurant is located on the ground level of The Domain, a small mixed use development at the junction of Siglap Road and East Coast Road. The entrance of the restaurant faces Siglap Road.
Anatta Restaurant in Siglap is spacious and offers a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. A central stone island and green plants evoke the serene ambiance of a Japanese zen garden. Light wood furniture and walls adorned with shelves displaying Anatta’s specialty groceries contribute to a warm and welcoming environment.
There are tables of various sizes, a big communal table and bar seats. Tables are well spaced out.
Anatta Menu
Anatta’s culinary philosophy revolves around celebrating the purity of flavour in fresh, high-quality ingredients. Their menu is an eclectic mix, focusing on real, whole foods, free from preservatives and additives. From Western classics like pasta and Scotch egg to Asian favourites like curry chicken and lu rou fan, the menu caters to a variety of palates.
Anatta Restaurant opens early – from 7:30 am. Its menu is not extensive and spreads across several categories including Breakfast, Starters, Sharing, Mains, and Desserts. Below are screenshots of the digital menu.
There are also pastries, buns and tarts on display at the counter and on the shelves.
Lunch at Anatta Restaurant
We visited the new restaurant in East Coast for lunch and ordered the Spiced Chicken Half ($22) with a side of steamed rice ($3); and the Scotch Egg ($24). There was a service charge but no GST would be added to the bill.
The service was friendly and efficient, with water brought to the table without needing to ask. However, the wait for the food was slightly longer than anticipated.
The roasted chicken arrived with a beautifully crisp, golden skin, while the meat itself was tender. It was a simple dish with light subtle flavours. The Spiced Chicken was meant to be a sharing plate, and even the half portion size was quite generous.
The Scotch Egg was the more interesting and more delicious dish. It featured a perfectly soft-boiled egg encased within a well-seasoned minced chicken thigh mixture studded with seeds. The contrasting textures and the interplay of flavours were delightful.
Spot for Wholesome Food
Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Anatta Restaurant in Siglap. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff friendly and attentive. The menu was rather limited, and the food, while not exactly budget-friendly, was palatable.
Anatta is an excellent choice for those looking to escape the usual cafe offerings in East Coast—a casual eatery that emphasises fresh, wholesome food. It is also a convenient spot to pick up quality groceries.
